Elvis and I wrote a few times when I first joined Jigidi - he had some serious health issues but seemed to be doing ok. That was a year or so ago, do hope he's keeping well. A lovely gentleman. (❀ᴗ❀)

treker

I have no information on "ElvisBanana." It appears he's doing "other things" with his time. Anyone know the whereabouts of EB?

sparklightie

@treker - our dear friend Elvis has not been seen since 19 May2019 and I think he could be watching over us from up above ♥♥♥

treker

Thanks for the invite! ;-)

Bubble

Well Treker, if you guys return you can come and visit us as well. (❀ᴗ❀)

treker

My wife and I spent a week on a sea kayak adventure/tour there years ago. Camping on 6 different islands. FUN!!

Bubble

We love it here - 15 years now, best move we ever made !! (❀ᴗ❀)

treker

Been there! LOVELY!!

Bubble

Oh yes, we're on Vancouver Island, way north !! (❀ᴗ❀)

treker

Bubble, with that said, I reckon you live north of me. ;-)

Bubble

That's very kind of you Treker. We still have Salt Lake City on our bucket list and Boise is on the way so we always intended visiting Boise as well (we love potatoes !). We will certainly let you know if we'll be coming to town! (❀ᴗ❀)

treker

Thank You Bubble! If you're ever in Boise, Idaho let me know on this site beforehand and my wife and I would welcome a visit.

Bubble

These are lovely, treker and it would be great to see your collection. Have always enjoyed reading about stone knapping especially in books like Clan of the Cave Bear etc. The author did lots of research. Thanks for sharing this with us. (❀ᴗ❀)

Elvis, I've heard about "screen shots" or "captures" for years and I haven't the faintest clue how to do that, or how to use it if I did do it. I don't post puzzles. (The two of Julie Andrews on my profile page surprised me when they appeared. They were posted by my friend octomom, who is the only person I gave my password to, so she could provide me with an avatar. She used to change them from time to time, and sometimes they were really comical, a drunk Santa, a crazed biker - on a girl's bike, not a motorcycle, etc. She's unable to come onto Jigidi these days, so I'm lucky my present photo of actor Ray Danton was the last one she put up for me. He was so handsome!) Anyway, I don't post puzzles because I don't know how. Maybe we should talk about some of that, but I'm in no rush.

ElvisBanana

Yes, @patsquire I'm familiar with treker and his incredible jigidi accomplishment. His ears are probably burning as we're talking about him - on one of his puzzles, no less! In fact, I'm indirectly responsible for this puzzle.

Fred and I were having a conversation, and I mentioned that I'd love to see some of his knapping skills on display. He'd been meaning to show some of his handiwork in a puzzle, but had been putting it off until I prompted him to finally create the puzzle. That's why he titled this one with my name in it.

As a matter of fact, I was thinking about taking lessons from him, but we decided that my visual impairment is bad enough that knapping isn't a good hobby for me. Still, I admire his work, and would love to see it in person.

Finally, before I head off to bed I have another thought for you. You might want to think about taking a screen shot** of your accomplishment so you'll have a record of it in the future. You could then continue using the "patsquire" name for solving other puzzles without ruining those beautiful numbers. You could also turn it into a puzzle like Fred did with his incredible numbers.

**I think a screen shot would be preferable to taking a photo of the screen with your phone or a camera, as it will be exactly what you see on the screen with no glare, unusual angles, etc. I'm no computer expert, but I could help you out with that if you'd like.

As I drift off to my bed, I'll be chuckling to myself - thinking of your very good Elvis impersonation! For that, I thankyou. Thankyouverymuch!

patsquire

Yo Elvis! Thankyou. Thankyouverymuch!

Here's someone really worth emulating. His name is Fred:

@patsquire
I don't mean to "eavesdrop", but your last comment made me curious.

Wow! Congratulations are definitely in order!

(By the way, I come across your comments rather frequently, so I'm guessing we like to solve the same kind of puzzles. I'll have to work hard to match your achievement!)

patsquire

Fred, here's another achievement in our ongoing efforts to provide our fellow Jigidiers with the leadership, the examples, the courage to dream large!

Some of my friends have been wondering why I have been solving puzzles under my PatStar profile lately, instead of my regular patsquire profile. The reason is that I've been having fun on Jigidi for the last couple of months coaxing my patsquire persona (which is my real name) to this OUTSTANDING!, STUPENDOUS!!, AMAZING!!! RESULT!!!!

treker

pkh- Let me tell you,... that stuff is unbelievably SHARP! ;-)

pumpkinhead

Obsidian is a nice choice!

treker

pkh- Thank You! I should add that all my work is accomplished using smooth rock hammer stones, antler tips for pressure flaking, and cattle/elk femurs for "soft" hammers. I prefer Obsidian material collected on Glass Butte in Oregon about a four hour drive from my home in Boise.

pumpkinhead

There is no end to your multiple talents, treker!!!!!

ElvisBanana

Great, thanks treker! I've actually written a lengthy response over on that private puzzle, so I'll leave it at that.

It seem like all of the cities that used to be smaller have exploded in the past decade or two. I know that's true of Bend, Oregon and nearby Hermiston, Oregon...

treker

I went to the "private" site and subsequently cleared/deleted the link after viewing it. Duh!
I needed to answer your query as to my address but I had deleted the other link so I'm back to "regular" correspondence. I live in Boise, Idaho. Been here since 1970! Pop. was 75,000 then. It's now 350,000. The secret was too good to keep quiet, it appears. Still a wonderful place to live.

treker

EB- Happy you found this! I thought long and hard on what I would title the puzzle. I figured the direct approach using your Jigidi "handle" would get your attention. It worked!
I'm "headed" for your site now. ;-))

Wendy, thanks for visiting and your kind comment!

unicorn3

I'm impressed. This is an amazing collection.............Wendy

ElvisBanana

By the way, treker, I'm creating a puzzle just for you. I'll be inviting you to solve it in a different way than you invited me. It will show up in your notifications. It will look like this : "ElvisBanana has mentioned you in a comment." My name and the word "comment" will be in blue, indicating a hyperlink. If you click on my name, it will just take you to my profile page. If you click on the word "comment", it will take you to the puzzle where I've left the comment - in this case, the puzzle I've created for you. Just go ahead and do that, and I'll see you in another part of the cyberverse!

ElvisBanana

treker, those are fantastic. You have a true talent! I have been eagerly awaiting the day that you would publish a puzzle of your handiwork!

I would like to suggest that there is one aspect where you could stand to develop a little more skill. That would be in the naming of your puzzles!!!

Actually, it's flattering, and I truly appreciate that you remembered to create this puzzle.

treker

Very much so, Val. Thanks for solving!

A rewarding hobby☺☺

treker

I've been working obsidian, flint, chert, and basalt for over 30 years. The "process" of how lithic (rock) material reduction was accomplished was and remains, to be an amazing process to me. I can't imagine how many points I have crafted. It's a slow and sometimes tedious process, dependent on the material. I've demonstrated at/in college archaeology classes. It's been a fun hobby! ;-))

valt46

Very clever Fred, how long did it take☺
