Jiaxiu Pavilion on the Nanming River, Guiyang, China

In Today's Daily Jigsaw Puzzle, Jiaxiu Pavilion, often called the First Scholar's Tower, is a celebrated landmark perched on a massive boulder in the Nanming River in southern Guiyang, Guizhou Province ♥

The original structure was commissioned in 1598 by Governor Jiang Dongzhi during the Ming dynasty to inspire academic achievement - its name meaning "first in the imperial examinations."

Standing approximately 20 m tall, the elegant three-tiered pavilion features upturned eaves, red wooden pillars, and white marble railings; it is connected via the stone-arched Fuyu ("Floating Jade") Bridge to both riverbanks. Over its 400-year history, the pavilion has been destroyed and rebuilt six times, with the current incarnation dating back to a 1909 Qing-era reconstruction.

The site includes the adjoining Cuiwei Garden and Hanbi Pavilion, showcasing Ming- and Qing‑style architecture, stone engravings, calligraphy, paintings, and a famed 206‑character couplet by Qing poet Liu Yushan - 26 characters longer than the than the “longest couplet in China” in Kunming's Daguan Tower.
