I didn't know that the wheel had a name, Daisy. Thanks for the information. I used to type at over 90 wpm, but when computer keyboards came around with soft keys, I typed at over 120 wpm. My only claim to fame, I suppose, until I became famous for having eight children, earning the nickname Octomom. Oh, never mind, I had eight cats, not kids...

@octomom - Oh yes, the Daisy Wheel printer came with that first computer. I remember it well, my nickname being Daisy. Well into the computer age though, my secretary with her Selectric typewriter could hands down produce a perfect document faster than a computer. Eventually MailMerge emerged, and the sect'y retired.

Who remembers the first "computer" typewriter? And what about the "ball" of characters that you can change? And yes, there was Whiteout or Liquid Paper during that time. Ladies and Gentlemen, we're dating ourselves. Then, there was another version, where you typed the text and the typewriter then typed it out without errors. It was the first computer, and everyone thought the world was going to come to an end because computers were going to take over the world.

It's so nice to have so many people on one puzzle, and nobody fights or gets into arguments. Thanks for everyone's input. ~Gail~

Jammer dat ik moest onderbreken, maar het lukte me toch in 15:12, leuk helder plaatje!

My IBM typewriter helped me work my way through collegemin the 70s. It was a high school grad present, and very valuable to me.

I'm going on strike unless I can have my IBM Selectric, and a bottle of Liquid Paper!
What memories. 😄 Thanks, Jigidi.

Yes it's German/Deutch, see the eszett (double S) on top row 2nd right & the umlauts " on U, O & A. 😉

@Ohmyword, it's and umlaut over the second A, so probably German not French. But the puzzle brought back memories alright. All you need is some whiteout and a mimeo machine to complete the office.

Changing to a much plainer American typewriter and a phone down the hall, this was my work station for high school and college.

Nice picture, used to have a phone the same colour.

Ohmyword

@octomom it seems google suggest this may be a German typewriter where by they put both of those keys in the wrong place. My eye caught the second A, to the right, so I'm thinking it's for French but that can't be because then a second E should be seen somewhere.

Ohmyword

Sniffle, I still own my really old typewriter and two of those same rotary phones. Sadly the phones are not compatible with the alarm system so just taking up space in a box.

octomom

This was a nice puzzle. But the "y" and "z" are interposed and should be switched.

I remember those days, @Jigidi.
