I have never written a full profile, guess I should seeing as lots of other people have. At this writing I am 76 years old. My husband passed away Aug 14, 2013 from dementia. He was a firefighter for 36 years. We have 2 children, a son who is 53 and a daughter 51. They are the ages I think I still am.....LOL!! We have 1 granddaughter, our daughter's child. Her father died in a job related accident when she was 13 and then she lost her beloved grandpa (my husband) 4 years later. She is now 21 and going to university studying marine biology. Our son is soon to be married and his fiance has a 13 year old daughter who calls me grandma, so I guess I have 2 granddaughters. I worked in offices pretty well most of my life. I did do a stint teaching music for a couple of years and managing the studio, and when we moved out here to Mission, I worked at the local Medium Security Institution (Federal). I taught ESL (English as a Second Language) and typing. I also taught ESL to the Laotian and Vietnamese refugees when they came in the early 1980's. My late hubby and I were married for 50 years and 4 months. We had planned on going on that Alaskan cruise that leaves out of Vancouver, but it wasn't to be. He lived long enough to see our daughter marry in the May of 2013. He could not walk or talk, so I pushed the wheelchair and our daughter held his hand. We had the wedding at the care facility. There are pictures of it somewhere under my name. I seem to have been a bit of a sicky all my life. At 11 years of age I got spinal meningitis and almost died. My mom said I had whooping cough at a very young age, only didn't have the whoops, which was very dangerous. And of course the measles, mumps, and chicken pox. That was before vaccinations. And now that I'm an adult, I have various things wrong which I won't go into. I love being on Jigidi and wish so much I could meet some of you. You are a great comfort to me at times, especially when I am feeling lonely. Thank you all for being my long distant friends. Hugs to all.
