The artwork in Today's Daily Jigsaw Puzzle is titled "Mother and Child" (1883), and the artist is Christian Krohg ♥

Christian Krohg (1852–1925) was a Norwegian painter, illustrator, author, and journalist known for his realism and social engagement. He studied in Germany and was influenced by the naturalism of the time.

Krohg is celebrated for his empathetic depictions of everyday life, particularly of marginalized individuals, such as in "Albertine i politilægens venteværelse" ("Albertine in the police doctor's waiting room"), which sparked public debate. The painting—and the novel Albertine, which he also wrote—sparked public debate for its frank portrayal of prostitution and criticism of social hypocrisy and state-regulated sex work in Norway.

He was a central figure in the Kristiania Bohemian movement. He later became a professor and director at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts. His legacy includes both his powerful artworks and his role in shaping modern Norwegian art and society.

I remember this, too-- and my daily work was so much lighter than hers surely was. @cazneaux and @Bekkabee -- Amen.

This poor mother, how I can identify with her and her utter exhaustion...

ParsonWayne

Every new mother can relate to this painting.

Bekkabee

My heart goes out to that poor mother, and kudos to the artist for having the courage to depict reality. TFS, Jigidi.

Imagine post-partum depression AND being this exhausted.
