What must have drawn your eye is Sally's delightful artwork and Chrissie's fancy "texting" talent~~ dear friends who generously donated their time and effort (I guess...haven't received a bill yet)! ;-) The poetry is by a beautiful and talented young writer I "met" online while obtaining her permission to publish it here.
So many wonderful and caring Jigidi friends have expressed concern for my health and have already been sending prayers and encouragement my way...even though I was not yet ready to share the details, bless you~each and everyone! ;-)))
Many of you may know I am an 11-year survivor of ovarian cancer~a HUGE miracle! ;-))) After struggling with the "medical machine" since late Nov, I was finally diagnosed on 1/31 with advanced small~cell lung cancer...another really nasty type! Sooooo, this ain't my 1st rodeo...been there, done that and got a great collection of hats! ;-)))
One thing I learned last time was how difficult it is to tell people~how upsetting it can be to them and how hard it is for me to deal with their reaction(s)...one reason I was not forthcoming sooner (plus I'm kind of private). I didn't want to put anyone off, but needed some time to grapple with this myself~while looking for a way to make this easier for all of us...thank you for being patient with me! ;-)
I found Karen's lovely poem and immediately realized it suited my purpose, because it is written in a positive light~from the viewpoint of the GIFTS this disease can offer (as too many of us well know), even as we have to contend with the devastation it (or the cure) can cause.
There is an inoperable mass on my bronchial tube, lesions on my spleen, lots of lymph nodes involved and a spot on my L3 vertebra (TMI?)~the only good news I got there for awhile was catching it before anything spread to my brain! I've had 1 course of chemo already, the next begins Tue, then a CT scan to check for progress, and hopefully 4 more rounds of chemo at 3-week intervals.
My greatest concern (of course) has been the girls...please be assured my utmost intention is seeing Callie Lou, Roxie and Ms Java Bean through the normal span of their lives (whilst kicking Cruella De Vil {aka cancer} to the curb!), should anything else happen, they WILL stay together, and be very well taken care of (spoiled more like) by dear, dear friends. ;-)))
Please forgive me in advance if I don't feel up to responding some days, and know I would never do anything to hurt or offend, but from past experience I do get a tad cranky when I don't feel well. ;-)
This is no time for pride or ego~I do have a touch of both ;-), and beg your prayers, positive, healing and loving energy, Grace and another HUGE miracle!!!
You all have picked me up and carried me through some difficult times~even if you weren't aware if it at the time...my Mom passing away, loosing Dulcie, and so much more...sheesh, now this!
I am so very appreciative of all your kindnesses, and couldn't be more grateful! Much love, Libby ;-)))))

I am to late to send a direct message, but if I wasn't, I would thank you for the poem. I never thought about what cancer could do for one. I have had cancer and I know the strength and power and the realization of how precious each moment of life is. Thank you where ever the hearts are that carry you now, deborah

Hello friends of javasage - I regret that I must share with you that Libby has been in hospice care since Tuesday Nov 18th and is now making her transition into spirit. She loved this community and spoke so very lovingly of her connections to you here. Losing her is a great loss to us all but I am grateful for now having her as a guardian angel.

laurajane

I just saw this, Libby. Wow...just wow. You are in my prayers, as one of our Jigidi family. Hugs.

I'm in a different club but we all seem to become members of one or another of these 'Cruella De Vil" clubs :-)

javasage

Sounds like you're a member of the club too, like92115. Wishing you all the best as well, sorry about the ear worm...I need to learn the lyrics to the song...been humming it myself! ;-)))

like92115

"Cruella De Vil" - I really like that :-). Thank you for adding that to my vocabulary to poke a little fun at the source for our tests/trials. I will use this for my own experiences.

I wasn't aware of your situation. I wish for you the best and I am very glad to see from the sampling below that you have many supporters. We all wish you well.

[ Now I can't get the song out of my head, referring to the song sung in the 1960's animated movie :-). ]

javasage

Oh Sweet Mimi, whatever anyone of us is facing is "bad enough"...no comparisons, please! We are all members of a club no one ever wants to join...and how could I not be concerned about my "family"...you are all so very dear to me! Thank you for the prayers, thoughts and cheering...and especially your love and hugs for our girls and moi! ;-)))

mipahollo1

Oh Libby, I didn't know. My situation is so minor compared to yours. You go right to the top of my prayer list! Thank you so much for being concerned about me and so many others. You are one great lady. We'll all be thinking about you and cheering you on! Much love and many hugs for you and your precious pets. ♥♥♥

javasage

NOW we know who really created all those wild ice cream flavors...and you didn't say a peep to anyone, Ms Sally!
Ms Crissie, now that the proverbial peeps are out of the bag (and NOT your doing I noticed) I hope you'll sleep better! ;-)))

foxymoron

Now come on, Michelle. We didn't mention the OZ coupons to anyone as you swore us to secrecy! Don't you remember the threats you made to us if we said a peep? We do... we still can't sleep nights worrying we might let it slip :-)

SMor2Ditto

Hugs, Suga.... Peanut butter, Callie Lou and Roxie, what a great combination... Personally I would have added a little chocolate and maybe some cookies and cream ice cream.... Love ya.... ♥‿♥

puzzaddled

*snigger*

javasage

Nah, just used one of Joan Rivers old pork chops! ;--)))

puzzaddled

Ahhh, so you were the sandwich filling! Good to hear that you're being pampered...but did you really have to smear your body with peanut butter? ☺

javasage

Could not type last night, but wanted to thank you all for the laughs, billing issue free night, special thoughts and prayers...and let you know I WAS being pampered...Roxie on the right and Callie Lou on the left...doesn't get much better than that! ;-)))

puzzaddled

Thinking about you too, Libby. ☺♥

bookish

Hope today's treatment wasn't too bad and that you're being pampered. Take care. ♥

puzzaddled

♥♥♥!

>:-) (evil grin) Sally! ☺ to the hugs!

ringleader

My thoughts and prayers are with you even more today, Libby. Love and hugs. Ardy

Aren't Michelle's paintings wonderful!!!

SMor2Ditto

Wow, Michelle... You've got peeps.... We're impressed... We'll see if we can scare up a few... Should be an interesting meeting.... No worries, if there's no bill, there's no issue.... We could make one up if you like.... Can you bill for hugs??? You're right there is no expiry date, so redeem away..... Your digital paintings of the girls are wonderful.... Just thought I mention it.... Hugs... Oh, wait, we haven't billed for them yet..... ♥‿♥

puzzaddled

Glad you appreciated my "rapier wit", dear girl!

Probably they didn't want you to know that, due to a system error, there is no expiry date so you can keep redeeming it ad infinitum! Have their people talk to my people if there is a billing issue. They get a lot of credit for doing this.

*groan* I'd better stop this...right now! ☺☺

javasage

I just about lost a mouthful of tea with En Guarde Cruella...ROTFLMBO! Just knowing you are there, and that you care inspires strength and determination...I never take that for granted or underestimate the mountains that can moved if only by one pebble at a time. I am so touched by your comments, and proud to be part of this community! BIG hugs, Libby ;-)

Hmmmm...wonder why no one ever mentioned that OZ coupon before...;-)

puzzaddled

Libby, I can't tell you how moved I am by you sharing your so very personal struggle and how, in spite of your difficult news, you made me smile. You have a irrepressible sense of humour that I hope will help sustain you in your current skirmish. (En guarde Cruella!) Your smile lights up the dark corners of the world and your care and thoughtfulness does too. If I could lend you strength, I would. You have always been there for others here on this site; may your positive energy and thoughts that you have shared with us be magnified and returned to you with love. There isn't much else that I can do for you but let you know that I care too. Not knowing what else to do, I played with a couple of your photos and hope that they give you a moment or two of pleasure. *hugs* Michelle

(Chrissie and Sally - thank you too. You've told her to input the OZ coupon code for the free trial, haven't you?)

javasage

Thank you for your willingness to help, Gail...wouldn't it be great if we all were closer. They all did a bang-up job! ;-)
Glad you like the poem, Lorna...Karen wrote to help get through her own cancer journey not realizing how many others she might help in the process! I think the girls will be glad to help you out! ;-)
Thank you Jana, I can use all the strength and love you all can give! ;-)
You are so nice, Francine! The chemo gets a bit worse every time...with all the outpouring of love, prayers and positive energy I'll breeze right through it! ;-)

Janazlouky

You're a great guy Libby , thank you for being here with us. We are all with you and we will give you all our love and strength to triumph over illness. Many hugs dear .

goingsilver

The poem is wonderful. I so admire your spirit and positive attitude Libby. Thinking of you with love and perhaps the girls will give you an extra hug from me!

octomom

Libby, I came across this puzzle just now, and wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts. Take all the time you need away from Jigidi. We'll miss you if that happens, but we'll all still be here upon your return. There's no need to reply. I just wanted to let you know that I think of you often, and wish I lived closer to be able to help. Thanks to Chrissie and Sally for creating this lovely puzzle, and thanks to Karen Fries for writing the poem.

javasage

Will do Katie, thank you! ;-)
Thank YOU wshealy...how could I not? ;-)

Dear Libby, thank you so much for letting us know what you're going through and for sharing this wonderful poem by your friend Karen. Add my love to that caring wrapped around you! I will keep you in my heart and prayers. Get plenty of snuggle time with Callie Lou, Roxie and Ms Java Bean! We're all here to add the strength we can to your fight. Love, Katie ღ

javasage

Thank you dear Jan and Kirsten...I'm going to wrap all your caring around me and enjoy! ;-)))

RandomWorship

Oh, Libby. I am so sorry. I can feel your strength and positiveness in your message. So I don't want to get maudlin. Just know that I'm thinking of you. Take care. Be strong. Stay positive. And if you can't, let us do it for you. ❤❤❤

RetiredJan

Dear Libby, our prayers and strongest, positive vibes are going to you from all corners of this planet as I write. I know you are positive and strong yourself and that is crucial. Be assured your Jigidi friends are with you as you travel this road and sending you much love. Jan.

You're right snooker, Jigidi folks are THE BESTEST on the planet!!! ;-)
Thank you Suzy...for everything...now and later on! ;-)

pumpkinhead

Your jigidi family will give you the strength you need when it's hard to find, and to provide that much needed laughter.
Sending positive energy your way.
Suzy

Had a feeling it was more than pneumonia, dear girl. Through my tears I am sending you all the strength I can to beat this. We will all be here for you and there isn't a greater group of friends to be in your corner. Fight on, Libby. ♥♥♥

ringleader

Dear Libby, Ever since I first learned of your pneumonia you have been in my prayers. I'm so sorry it's so much more serious. I will pray for your healing, your miracle, and that you will have the courage that is needed during this hard time. Know you are dearly loved by so many but especially by your Savior. Love and prayers, Ardy

tigress

A lovely and fitting work of art from the combined efforts of Karen, Sally and Chrissie. Libby, I send my thoughts and prayers to you. I was diagnosed with lung cancer just over 5 years ago, have been through radiation and chemo. So far I've had clear scans and look forward to hitting the 5 year mark since my operation back in 2009. I understand that on some days you will not be your usual perky self and will not always be up to answering comments. Just know that you have a lot of Jigidi friends thinking of you. Big hugs to you! :-)

riveroad

Never lose your sense of humor!

cinderfire

I will remember this poem and you will be in my prayers also. Thank you so much for this gift to us all. Much thanks Javasage, go get 'em girl!

Marchon

Oh my sweet, tough fighter, I wish so many blessings on you. You're my super hero!

What Cancer Can Do

Cancer can renew our faith in God
Renew our faith in our fellow man

Cancer can unite a family
Unite a community

Cancer can bring forgiveness
Bring kindness to one another

Cancer can teach us to appreciate all the little things
Bring out the best in people

Cancer can teach patience and respect
Teach acceptance of others

Cancer can bring to the surface bravery and courage
Give us strength we never knew we had

Cancer can make you cry with great emotion
Give many and tighter hugs

Cancer can give you an amazing hat, scarf, and wig collection
Make you laugh at your bald head

Cancer can make a great excuse for naps
Give you gifts from family, friends, and strangers

Cancer can introduce you to amazing nurses, doctors, technicians, and therapists
To many others battling cancer

Cancer makes you realize you need to slow your life down
Take a deep breath and really look inside yourself

Cancer can make you smile at someone and mean it
Make you want to pay it forward to those who follow

Cancer can make you thankful to wake up each and every day
Make you philosophical about your life

Cancer can make you love deeper
Forge lasting friendships

Cancer can make you say "I love you" to family and friends a little more often
Make you do those things you thought you didn't have time for

Cancer can soften the hardest of hearts
Make grown men cry when before tears never rolled down those cheeks

Cancer can make you tough
Make you a better friend, a better person

Cancer can make you more compassionate
Make you generous, polite, and a little bit feisty

Cancer can knock you on your ass
But it can't keep you down

Cancer can sap all your energy
But it can't steal your strength and faith

Cancer can do many things
But it cannot crush the human spirit

Cancer can make you stronger than cancer
Cancer creates survivors

Cancer changes your life forever
Cancer can be defeated
