@bubbeknitz, my mother was given an old singer - but not quite that old - and taught herself to sew when we were kids, to save money. One day she dropped it down the stairs, and cried bitter tears. Later she had a great newer Singer, with all the attachments - lasted more than 65 years. I have a Kenmore (Sears) that's over 50 and still great - it's pretty basic, but has a few different stitches. I don't think I'd want a computerized one. Do you still use yours?

I actually own an 1899 Singer which was the first thing my grandparents bought when they came to this country! My grandfather was a tailor, Thank you!
