Antirrhinum is a genus of plants commonly known as snapdragons or dragon flowers, from the flowers' fancied resemblance to the face of a dragon that opens and closes its mouth when laterally squeezed (thus the 'snap'). They are native to rocky areas of Europe, USA and North Africa.

We had snapdragons when I was growing up, also had them at my own homes over the years,
including so many other flowers. Seems everyone had Lily of the Valley as Grandmalucy says.
Peonies were also very common in our area. We made hedges out of them.

Just like peony and lily of the valley does for me. my mom had them in her gardens

Snapgragons appear in many English country gardens. This picture reminds me of childhood
