Hanne, your & Bent's wonderful property never ceases to amaze me. You are very blessed............
I know that wine is made from the elderberries.....suppose to be high in iron. Many years ago, women used to drink the elderberry wine for that reason, as they (women) were always anemic. In the 60's, I was very anemic. My doctor prescribed for me to drink the wine. Of course, in modern times and the problems with alcohol, the doctors don't prescribe that anymore. I never had elderberries to eat, but I do know they are dark purple as Plumpossum says. The plant is very pretty with the blossoms. Thank you Hanne and Bent. Janine :-)))
I don't recall ever hearing of anyone getting sick from eating elderberries; maybe ours are a different variety from yours? The berries were small - - maybe a bit larger than buckshot, and very dark purple. Maybe David would know more about the different elderberries.
Thanks so very much Ank, you are SO welcome! It's funny Varda!! I do hope they didn't get sick, because raw berries content cyanid and they have to be cooked for at least 20 minutes before they are edible without any risks!! I see that there are some bushes familiar with the elder in the States, I wonder if they ARE those we've got!! Did you just call them elderberries? What colour was the berries? Thanks so very much!!
Where I grew up, elderberries were almost as common as dandelions, but few people took advantage of the free fruit - - except for the kids, who had great fun picking and eating them.
Very beautiful, thanks Hanne.
Thanks so very much Ardy, I'm so very glad you like them!!!
They are so beautifully different from most fruit blossoms. I love it. Hard to realize that are really real. Thank you so much, Hanne & Bent.
Ja, ikke Sissel? Johannes V. Jensen skriver: "Nu rækker hylden sine svale hænder mod himlen." Er det ikke smukt? Tak, søde ven!!
Tak Hanne - så dejlige :-)
Thanks so very much wprivett, you are SO welcome!!
