You are now standing at 228 feet below sea level. Pretty amazing once you think about it.

The air felt heavier to breath but that may have been due to the heat. I imagine it would be bad for people who visit from places like Denver.

laurajane

Did it feel any different?

Toto

Oh, Jim was talking about the relay. A 9.7 mile baseball toss from person to person, starting at Union Staion in downtown KC all the way out to Kaufman Stadium. 2500 volunteers who only fear was to drop the ball. All donations went to a project to support baseball in the inner city. Pretty cool.

Life really is good, isn't it? :) Jim remarked that he saw a news clip about the blue line leading from the train station to the field. He was impressed.

Toto

Made it home to the land of tornados in time for opening night at Kaufman. Warm night and hot bats and a KC win. Sweet.

EEK! Earth movement is a scary thought. I'm sure the story you and Jack spun was a classic!
Will you be home in the land of tornados soon?

Toto

Hard to tell, Suzy, the air felt close, but it could have just been the heat. The San Adreas fault runs right down the middle of the Salton Sea, which made it even eerier. We had a picnic lunch and Jack and I entertained ourselves with writing the classic disaster story about two midwesterners who caught caught in the grand daddy of earthquakes . . the earth cracked and the sea drained out . . . the reversed directons and the entire Pacific Ocean started spouting up through the cracks in the earth. Makes me glad to be back in the land of tornados.

Ah. I am closing my eyes and thinking about being below sea level. Crazy to think of it on dry land. Did it feel any different to you?

goingsilver

Um, no thanks Kathleen!

Toto

Peppermint, I had fun looking at all the old photos showing the lake during its heyday. My Aunt, who now lives in Palm Springs, remembers fondly going out in the 50's and 60's.

Hi, Lorna, now imagine your standing under 228 feet of water.

goingsilver

Yes that is amazing!

I know that place well, my dad lived about 45 mins from there. Was a big getaway place for celebrities back in the day. Now it is like a ghost town. Ty for sharing the pix
