My old buckskin I never used the rains They always hung loose
I train thoroughbred racehorses and some of the retired ones can be ridden bridleless.
Another thing I miss! I trained ex race horses to ride like this and I used to teach my advanced riding students to trust their horse (or a school horse) to ride this way too. Only never used a big stick. Just the strap at the base of the neck and legs and seat and voice.
Thanx for posting this!
Several years ago, I was watching a jumping competition on TV. The reins of one of the riders broke as he went over one of the first jumps. He basically completed the jump course briderless....certainly reins-less. It was a beautiful thing to watch....horse and rider working as one.
