Deep under ground in Poland lies something remarkable but little known outside Eastern Europe. For centuries miners have extracted salt there, but left behind things quite startling and unique.
Thanks for the comments Ank and Hanne. It is so sad that people are often exploited around the world. Human nature is not always kind. But to me it sounded like in this instance the miners were doing something they wanted to do, for themselves. I hope so. They certainly created much beauty.
In Denmark we have many Polish workers too, they are treated very badly sometimes, almost like slaves!! But some of them come to good employers who want their best. So many sad stories about those things, the people are poor and they are exploited. Some try their luck being criminals and I do understand them even if I don't appreciate what they are doing. But if you are exploited long enough you might loose your patience and go on your own!! It's a terrific hall in the picture, but I'm sure that those who dug it out had lives similar to the mining people whose poverty you know from your own countries! Thanks so very much Mimi!!
A lot of people from Poland live in NL. Also in my street. Many people go for vacation to poland. The most of Poland is still poor (no money). But thngs are becoming better. Many Polish people are going to work in other countries. They can make more money. Then they send the money home. They work very hard and make mostly too many hours for too little money. Exploitation. There are also an other group of Polish. And they give them the bad name. They come by car, steal a lot and are gone before you know. And Lot of Polish drink too much. And then they drive their car. A lot of accidents have drunk Polish drivers. Poland must be a very beautiful country. With beautiful old cities.
