After the torrential rain. Lots of basements flooded. Some people had it a lot worse than us.

Floyd , sounds like a lot of work you did. I used a dehumidifier and fans also plus a carpet cleaner that sucked up the water . I'm waiting for the insurance adjuster too as I 'm going to have the carpet ripped up and have tile installed.

Gladstone

We had some water again this year, (June29) but I was able to get most of the water out by the next day. With two dehumidifiers and fans was able to prevent mold from forming. Later opened walls and took out the wet insulation. Washed, rinsed and sanitized with bleach. Result no mold.
Still waiting for provincial disaster inspection people.
Great to hear your house is back to normal.

jetmech7

Warbler, There are lots of professional clean up crews around. Some people got a few feet of water.
I've sprayed Lysol on everything its suppose to kill mold.

jetmech7

Ginger, There was a woman on TV who had a signed card from Babe Ruth , its water ruined now. I'll go back to your puzzle.

jetmech7

Agnes , more rain today , not as bad I hope.

jetmech7

Claudia I'll send you some pictures.

jetmech7

Ellen Very nice of you , I didn't get it as bad as some.

warbler

Lots of mold around too, I'm sure. SO sad.

cinderfire

That is such a blow for people who lose all their stuff in a storm besides all the danger with it. Makes us grateful for what we do have Jim. Left a note on my puzzle(same one) for you in answer, and thanks again. :0)

anezka

It's a lot of damage, I hope that now you have better weather, to wither everything properly.... ☺

flkatz

Jim, would love to see these items you restored: walnut veneer humidor cabinet & the little mahogany pie crust table. I've always wanted a "pie safe." I love the tin-work on them, a lot of them have it on the doors, some on tops.

PutterDutt

I've been praying for people affected by the climate lately. Didn't realize it included you, my friend.

jetmech7

So am I BK, Lot of people I talk to are having tile installed , no more carpets around here.

Beekay

So sorry for these people!
Glad your damage was minimal Jim.

jetmech7

Thanks Jana , Were all cleaned up now and back to normal.

Janazlouky

What a shame. I'm happy for you that you do not have too much damage . Have a beautiful Sunday ☺☻ ♥

jetmech7

Claudia , we were lucky

jetmech7

Floyd that's terrible, I don't know about you , but I get paranoid every time we get a heavy rain. I keep thinking about getting a house with no basement that's on top of a hill, but with my luck it would probably slide down the hill in a heavy rain.

jetmech7

willey19live, I did see it and its a good idea , it would all be gone in a heart beat.

jetmech7

Neville , yes it is a good time for house cleaning . I have a friend whose hours were cut back to 30 hours a week on account of Obama care. She has to supplement her income by picking metal out of the trash and taking it to the scrap dealer. You should see the antiques and other great stuff she finds , some people don't know what they're throwing out. I have repaired some stuff she finds as I was a cabinet maker before I was an airplane mechanic. I think I'll try brain surgery next. Haha.

jetmech7

Janet , were back to normal now, very glad it wasn't sewage. Hugs back.

jetmech7

smllpkg, I was tempted to pick up that table , but I have enough stuff already, I'm almost a hoarder. During the big rain 11 years ago I did pick up a couple of Items, one is a walnut and walnut veneer humidor cabinet , in side the door its copper lined, it even had a metal container for tobacco. I should take a picture of it and post it. The other Item was a little mahogany pie crust table. Both were in excellent shape.

jetmech7

Claudia , that's the way I feel too.

jetmech7

lever2011, There have been a lot of pickers.

flkatz

YIKES Gladstone! I'm sorry to hear about that, and glad for you Jim that it was just rain water.

Gladstone

Sad to see, reminds me of four years ago when we had two feet of sewage in our basement.

Hey jetmech7, see my other remark on trash day, just put a couple of dollars price on each item & they'll steal every bit of it. No extra trash charge. Problem solved.

robryan

What a sad sight Jim:((( I bet there are a few curb-crawlers eyeing some of this off!

jan42ful

That's a sad scene, Jim. I understand some people had sewerage overflows - that would be dreadful. I hope you are getting your basement all cleaned up now. hugs my friend, janet

smllpkg101

I understand the upholstered furniture. You can never been sure about the mold and removing the stains. But I don't quite understand the wood furniture. It's pretty easy to clean up and touch up if it needs some refinishing.

flkatz

That is sad, but I'm sure thankful it wasn't worse

Lever2011

I would like to go through your trash.
