We had a neighbor dog that drove me nuts. I used to translate his barking:
"There are things! In the universe! Everywhere! There are things! Look, don't you see! THINGS!!"
The only time he was quiet was when he got fed...

Ah, OK, now I know. He must be Micky's friend. When I open the front door, she run out, a few steps, and start to bark.

That's what dogs do. I can remember many years ago, my mother's neighbor complained to me that everytime someone came up Mom's drive the dog would bark. HELLO! That's what he was suppose to do.

True story, Mimi. I let the corgis out and went back inside. I heard a single bark, a pause, then another bark, followed by a pause, etc.
I got up and looked out. Canu was walking in a large circle and would stop every few steps and bark once straight up into the air!
I figured she was announcing to anybody who might be listening, "I am here, now!"
