Feel the same way about you Wendy :-))))
I'm all caught up on the comments and am just so pleased that you're basically back to normal again. I had no idea that you've actually been on Jigidi for less than a year. I feel like you're an old friend....one that I've had for a long time. :-))))))
Thank you ladyc. and a very Happy New Year to you as well. It hasn't even been a year since I joined and I feel like I've made so many nice friends here and it's been a real pleasure. Wishing you all the best in 2014 :-)))))
Happy New Year Edie. 2013 has had a dramatic end for you. The main thing is, you survived it. Thank you for your advent puzzles, you kept me entertained and completely hooked. Never come across anything like them before. Very exciting. My best wishes see you in the New Year :))))
Thank you Marilyn, and the same to you and yours :-)))
Thank you PJ. Happy New Year and hope you and your new hubby have a great celebration. It's not long for you now, only a couple hours away. See you back in the new year :-)))
Thank you Florrie and the same to you. Every year is a good year as far as I'm concerned it's just that some are better than others and 2014 will be great I hope. I'll be here alone and fast asleep with only my furry company. My partying days are over. I will see you bright and early next year :-)))
Thank you Jana and I wish the same to all of you and your family and pets. I just played the card and it's very cute. Thanks for that also. Hugs Edie
Thanks Robbie. Yes I and all my charges survived. The only one really at risk was my OH if he had stayed here. On the second day I packed him off to his mother's :-)))
Happy New Year Edie, to your family and menagerie. Here is hoping for wonderful start to the new year.
Dear Edie - wishing you a wonderful new year - all the best to you and your dear ones, including Sally, Cloud and the others....PJ
Hello Edie, we all wish you,all youf family and your pets healthy and hapyy New Year :-))))) hugshttp://www.jacquielawson.com/preview.asp?cont=1&hdn=0&pv=3111945
I am so sorry to hear all this Edie, glad that you survived and hope that this was the worst for winter. Stay warm and a happier new year in the making!!
No problem Wendy. I haven't posted any more pics because I was trying to catch up on my bookmarks. No need to leave comments all of the time. I understand perfectly :-)))))
Edie, I feel badly that I haven't visited sooner. Well, actually I did because I read the comments a few days ago but I don't remember leaving a comment. And now, I realize that I have more catching up to do....so I'm going to come back later on. Oh, I do remember saying that I was glad you and all the animals are safe and sound.....and that's the most important thing.
Schützlinge are doing fine. Still have my daughter's two cats here as well. The work that she was hoping would be done during the week they were in Montreal was not even started. She doesn't want her cats back till that's completed so I will carry on the best I can Florrie :-)))
It was not much fun PJ, that's for sure but I survived and so did my menagerie so that's the main thing. Today was a big clean up day and a lot of the branches around the house have been cut up and small ones burned. The ones further away from the house will have to wait for another time but probably before the spring. My grandkids love to have fires so I'm sure the next time they come out another cut and burn session will take place. Thanks for your warm wishes, hope that you're doing ok.
Dear Edie - such an ordeal you've had - so glad you are ok - well, and now the outdoor clean up starts??? Or can you wait till spring? All the best for you -PJ
To get the one I want I may have to dish out the $10,000 myself Faye. He wasn't here except for the first day. Thank God or there might have been bloodshed afterall. lol.
Thanks Jana for all your good thought and wishes. Yes it wasn't fun but it's over now and we all survived and now it will just be something to talk about next Christmas :-)))
Glad your power is back on and that everyone survived...and tell your OH that a new generator is non-debatable! LOL :)))
So much I'm sorry your problems and terrible weather. Mainly, that you have all stayed Health across . Hugs and love for you and yours Edie :-)))
The fireplace does not have a chimney Marilyn, it just vents straight out through the wall. I think why he warned me was because I was opening the glass door and heating water directly on the gas flame. I have 3 carbon monoxide detectors but when the power goes out they start screeching and I have to unplug them and pull the batteries to make them stop.
You should have been safe from CO if your chimney is working properly especially the flue. A carbon monoxide sensor is good to have. I had one when I had children in our home but it got broken when it was knocked off the wall by my last son. He was goofing off when it happened and I have not replaced it. Sorry you have so much clean up but I am glad you are safe now.
Yes Marilyn I have a wood and a gas fireplace in my bedroom which also worked except for the fan. I turned it on every once in a while when things got really cold but then my son in law scared me with the carbon monoxide danger so I stopped using it. He did manage to borrow a generator from a friend half way through day 3. In some ways it was a God send because I could now run things off it. On the other hand it only held 6 hours of gas so if I filled it at 8:00 pm by 2:00 am it was out and I didn't want to go out in the pitch dark and cold to fill again. Also my house had a dozen electric cords running through it and I had to unplug the hot plate if I wanted to use the space heater and it was a lot of work for what it produced. I'm still glad he got it but I would definitely look into buying a bigger one that plugs directly into the fuse panel and runs of the propane tank. That would eliminate what I went through. That's what I'm still trying to clean up now before OH and son come home.
If the power stays on, which I think it will, the worst for me is over. The outside will take quite awhile to get back to normal. Not the old normal but a new normal.
Nothing new in my life ZZZZ. LOL. Just spent the last two hours trying to get the house back together as the other two residents are returning tonight.
That was me for two days Florrie. Trying to heat water or food in the fireplace.
I am so relieved! I am glad to see the fireplace, I thought you had said you had one. Still a generator for the furnace, well pump and refrigerator would be well worth it from my perspective.
I hope the worst is over now, Edie, and although it may take time, I'm things will get cleaned up. Just take it slow. Do what's necessary for yourself and your menagerie. Thinking of you. :-)
I was going to wait until later on to visit, but then thought I'd make an early one to read what was happening in your life. I'm glad you and all the animals survived this.
Thanks Florrie. Clean up will have to wait awhile. Branches are large and frozen into the ice now. In one area in the woods there are quite a few trees that cam down but all fell away from the driveway so not blocking anything. Once it warms up I'm hoping my son and son in law will get busy with the chain saw and make some head way.
Ray was here on Sunday but I asked him to leave so he did on Monday afternoon. Michael stayed with Scott and Nicole the whole time. I had dinner with them on the 24th then came back here. Thanks for thinking about me Ardy.
Thanks cinderfire. It is what it is. Not much to do now but go forward.
Thanks for showing us your damage, Edie. Were you alone during the storm? You've been in my thoughts and prayers. I'm very thankful your damage isn't any worse. Blessings on those Hydro crews.
Ice is a force of nature which can be very destructive. Darn, hate that it hit your pines so hard.
Thanks Faye, PutterDutt and Ank. Those pines now have so many broken branches from the last two ice storms that I think I really need to get someone to come in the summer and cut of all the stumps. That would probably be better for the trees.
What a pity Edie, it's very sad to see.
So sorry to seee this damage, but those pines are scrappy. They'll come back. Bless them!
I always feel sorry for the trees...so sad.Glad you have your power back on...Bless those hydro crews! :)))
