I recognized this as fritillaria, too, and it grows in what I guess is considered to be southern-Northern NY (Westchester). (I call it that because, to people who live in NYC, everyone north of there lives "upstate", but, really, Westchester is commuting distance north of the city, and there's a whole lot of state north of us!).
@Robbiel, you are right it is Fritillaria Imperialis Yellow they are also red never heard them called Tears Of Mary but can see why they would be called that. :-)
Lovely flower. I've never seen it before, would it grow in southern Wisconsin?
