That's interesting arizonacharlie.....with me it was all about the horses. Cisco Kid was Diablo, Pancho was Loco, Gene Autry was Champion, Lone Ranger was Silver, Tonto was Scout, and Dale Evans was Buttermilk. That's ridiculous at this age I should remember all those names! But, I love horses, what can I say?
Unicorn3 - I remember the Lone Ranger. We didn't have Roy Rogers on TV in England but we knew about him. We had Champion the Wonder Horse, Cheyenne, Bronco and Rawhide. I was an avid fan of 'Westerns' and only after I grew up did I realise that 1/2 the attraction was the fabulous scenery in all the programmes.
Growing up....my favorite cowboy and my favorite horse. When we would play cowboys and Indians, (I know, that's politically incorrect now), I always played Roy Rogers, even though I am a female. I had a Dale Evans outfit, but it wasn't good enough. The only others I liked were Cisco Kid and Pancho and The Lone Ranger....remember them?
Roy Rogers was een favoriet van mijn schoonvader!' Dat was een boerenman, die alleen nederlands sprak. Hij noemde Roy dan ook steevast: Rooie Roggers, hoe vaak wij ook zeiden dat dat fout was!!
