There's a pair of these at our local plant nursery - about 15" long - & they sit soaking up the sun. It's easy to almost tread on them as they sit so still & are very used to people.

That's exactly why we DON'T have a pet door! L.O.L.

Thanks Cathy - I just walk on by :)))
This is about the limit size-wise that I'm comfortable with Monica - I don't mind the little ones at all. Layla cat brings in small ones to show us - & we're forever catching them in the house!! That's what happens when you have a pet-door :)))

I'm afraid of all lizards big and small, so you would not dare catch me going into your local plant nursery! No way, no how! I'll just look at them from afar, as they are quite pretty!

cevas

They would definitely startle me! But then I'd probably throw them bits of food too. Thanks for the wonderful picture!!

The first time I saw them I nearly flipped tex - it was just after we'd had a Carpet Snake go through our yard, & I jumped!! They are tame though - & very nonchalant about humans. Thanks tex!
Thanks Shirley - I'd rather meet one of these than a Carpet snake:))

Friendly guys, they can sit on top of a post, sunning themselves, and unless they move you will often not see them, Thank for the post Rob.

You know, he'd scare me half to death if I almost stepped on him! I'd probably knock down half the shelves in the place! Can't believe they're that tame. Thanks, RR. You always provide such interesting and unique critters!

LOL!! Air pg :)))
Yes chickie - I've nearly trodden on them a couple of times. It gives you a bit of a fright until you realise it's only a harmless lizard & not a snake!! One nursery has them near the café bar & feeds them small bits of food - they usually eat insects & bugs. They always fascinate me for some silly reason :)) I guess it's because they are just so comfortable around humans!

chickiemama

so they are just running/laying around loose?

photogent

Nice one Rob. Do they breath fire or water?
