only 127,601 more solves to a million and a half!

snooker

10,000 in 23 days.

joan454

Chugging along to a million and a half !

joan454

All puzzles will break into different pieces every time it is chosen to solve.
I think solving time is affected by the piece shapes.

lajuin

Wow, I hadn't noticed that either. I just tested it and you are right, leslieg. How smart of you!

snooker

Never noticed that before but you are correct.

leslieg

I just noticed today that the pieces on this one change shape from try to try. I, too think I've done this 1,000 times! I wonder if Magnus has that stat??

1,344,000 Jan.22/2014. Think I've done this sucker about 1000 times. :)

like92115

Interesting lajuin,

Jan 19, 2013: 1,144,449
Jan 19, 2014: 1,341,823 (1,342,214 now on Jan 19)

Almost 198,000 solves in the last year. Say roughly 200,000 in a year. 3 1/3 years at this pace for 2,000,000.

One day at a time...

patsquire

And you know, we're still solving it at the same time as others. I just solved at -xxx127 and when I finished it was at -xxx130!

joan454

What a long, strange trip it's been....

lajuin

1-19-14 - 12:15 am- - - 1,341,823

Last year - 1,144,449 - so slower this year - but, still going

leslieg

I see jcarroll just found this puzzle this week. I did some tractor puzzles by him/her.

leslieg

I had a hard time locating this in my file but glad to see the list was extended to include top 15 solvers! I was in the top ten the last time I did it.

bookish

Amazing isn't it, Joan?! I thought of this puzzle while solving one of your 'icy' ones a few days ago. You do find great images.

joan454

Almost the 19th of January again.
I can't wait to see what number we are up to on solves on that date!

I tried it again, and got better, 2:38 I must have fallen asleep doing it , that's my excuse.

jetmech7

Don't feel bad riveroad, my time is a snails pace at 2:44.

Best I can do is 1:00. But every solve counts!

Riveroad ,I tried it, I'll never get on the board as slow as I am. 2.44

Most puzzles get solved a few dozen times a day, some a couple of hundred. Even after over 2 1/2 years, this puzzle is getting solved almost 1,500 times a day, every day!

I found this while curious to see "the most solved puzzle." Does anyone know the second most solved, etc.?

Wow! That's an amazing number of solves Joan!!! No 1,268,839!!! Neat photo too!!!! Thanks.

Hi joan, Had to see after Cathy and Ank told me on another puzzle. Nos; 1,268,598.

Amazing. Great video too, Francine. While it's rather hard to tell with all that ice, I think I've seen that lighthouse when we were traveling that way a while back.

Janazlouky

Very nice video, thank you Francine :-)))))

sue1

My best was 1:24. I sort of hate that Roxanne's time which stood for so long has moved to 2nd place. But at least the 1st place person has a star. I think Magnus said that the millionth solver was an unsigned in guest. Sigh.

Check out this YT video whenever you have the time - especially starting around the 0:57 part. It's similar to yours but I don't think it's the same. Opinion?

Just dropped by to see how it was going. So happy to see our own dear Roxanne and Barbara still in the top spots. My best was 1:24, so you are ahead of me, Joan. LOL

joan454

Man, I really hate it when I get knocked off the board!
1:08

My, oh, my!

The Animal Rescue site also sells goods, naturally, and each sale earns more contributions. Also there are made in America sections and fair traded sections for those who like to support those causes. I have ordered and find the merchandise reasonably priced and good quality.

octomom

Kittystaff is correct. These are legitimate sites and do wonderful work. Keep clicking away. 781,430,100 pieces of kibble have been donated to shelters since April 1, 2008. Here's one of the sites:

http://www.freekibble.com/

You can answer a trivia question, but it doesn't matter if you answer it correctly. The donation still stands.

Another is:
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3

I like the former site better since there aren't so many advertisements flashing in your face on the site.

patsquire

Holy mackerel, late to the party!

I've been away visiting family, and then brought home a nasty flu, so I haven't been around much.

But better late than never:

WE DID IT!!! (I helped a little.)

Call the Guinness Book of World Records, somebody! They've gotta give this one a prize.

I am aware of the Animal Rescue click and the Kibble rescue and I know that these are legitimate. They are both rated in the top 10 of animal rescue operations nationwide. I do not blame you for being skeptical but at least these two are legit.

Joan_2

I am inclined to disbelieve the internet postings that say if you click here they will benefit a charity. I doubt that works. I think it is just a scam to get you to click and then they can access your computer.
-sign me "miss skeptical"

Dohun

I wouldn't mind at all doing a puzzlle two or three times a day if it serves a good purpose, I do it now just for fun, so much better doing it for something worthwhile. And we share the same problem Plink, I also spend far too much time here :))), as you say it's so much more interesting than boring work, where of all places could the two of us have met and started to talk to each other if not here. :))
Thanks for your comment to my comment LOL

plink

Dohun, I'd work puzzles to raise money for World Hunger Relief, or Habitat for Humanity, or Heifer International, or any other worthy cause!!! I'd get up early in the morning and stay up late at night working puzzles if it would benefit somebody in need. As it is, I'm on jigidi more than I "should be" anyway! :) It's so much more interesting than cleaning out closets... ha.

Dohun

I love Joan's tree it's beautiful but Quazar's picture is much easier to solve, I suppose much more people would do it over and over again. As the million times has already been achieved it also would be difficult to get it done again only for this reason alone. Somebody was talking about a sponsor and any noble cause. We are all much more inclined to do something if there is some kind of reward at the end. :)), but I don't know anything about sponsors or the like.

Roxanne

WOW!! Joan! I know when you first posted this puzzle you had no way of knowing how many times it would be solved! Kudos to you my dear!! :)

snooker

Like it better. Would there be a copyright or whatever you call it since it is somebody's painting?

http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=J6OAQFBU is colorful and only one more piece than the legend... check it out!

Joan_2

The symmetree is actually rather simple.
The dinner on the dock is so very like this one, though.

snooker

WOO HOO! Putting this on Jigidi's Facebook page is what really did it, not to mention all the solvers here. Congratulations to Roxanne, Snooker, Wascally Wabbit, Dagmar, Pat, and all the other solvers not on the board who made this possible.

Oh, and SharonAnn beat me over there, too! :)

1:17! Hey, I actually got on the high score list there. I'll enjoy it while it lasts--if it goes viral like this one I won't be on there long! :D

robf

Dinner on the dock - a million times? They'll run out of blackened trout! 1:40 so far

dondi

A million solves, and Roxanne is the fastest? I call that pretty good credentials. She ought to get a certificate at least, if not a trophy!! For that matter, making the list at all is pretty hot stuff!

petslave

UNBELIEVABLE THIS IS AWESOME!

buckeye425

This is fabulous! Congratulations Joan!

robf

Lajuin, when it's your idea you become the spokesperson! a) look at all your favourite pictures and choose one. b) Make it 35 pieces or fewer, please! c) if we simply go for a million again, wouldn't it be like becoming the second person to climb Everest? So maybe attach it to a cause, like a sponsored walkathon: donate to a pot held in trust, and when the million is reached, the money is released to the cause.
Choose something that everyone can support. I know we can do it, if it's worthwhile!

Dohun

It is wonderful to see how many people have helped to solve this puzzle a million times, congratulations Joan and thank you for a lot of fun and excitement.

Magnus, thank you as well for enlarging the board to show the top 15. Would you have any interest in displaying a flag beside each logged-in player, to show our countries?

Congratulations!!!! What a wonderful way to bring people all over the world together!! Just tuned in to solve once more and saw the number had been reached.

Probably passed out on the floor from the excitement.

@ snooker: I agree. I came back from my last solve to see 1 million as well. According to Magnus, though, it wasn't either of us. That's okay. We're still good at causing trouble! ;>

Magnus

I've removed 'guest' with the score of 30 seconds. I'm currently trying to locate an issue with the timer which causes the timer to stop. It's very rare, but when a puzzle has been solved a million time, it will happen a couple of times.

Solved: 982409

12:31 pm Eastern Daylight Saving time.

Perhaps they're malachite or calcite, but I doubt they're erudite. Of course, they could be just plain H2O with a bit of sodium chlorite--I mean, chloride. Oh, wait, that's what the puzzle is made of.

lajuin

Psquare - I accept your withdrawal of your previous arguments. . . but were they erudite??

At the current rate it will be about June 2nd, but I expect sooner.

Wow--6 more worked it since my last post!

So that's an increase of over 600 in 14 hours... :) (Yes, I AM still trying to catch javasage up there!) ;>

patsquire

...but not for long, I guess, lelabug. And GGL, my best ever was 1:42. I never really came close.

FOLKS! You're just too familiar with this thing. These times are impossible for part-timers and mere mortals to break into.

But I withdraw my erudite arguments (way down below) about why we'll never make it to 1,000,000. We're in the home stretch. GO, GO, GO!

Parrij, you are right about the looking at iceburgs! lol

It looks like we are going to hit about May 27 or 28th. Unless of course, more solves are done per day.
We are averaging about 1,068/day since 4/10.
Just my thoughts.
I may never want to look at another iceburg in my life. lol.

Solved: 949500
well, only 500 to go to the 950,000 mark. my fingers are tired... lol...

Joan, This puzzle has hit the email rounds a couple of times and i know on my joke list, i have right at 150 people from around the world so, I have sent this puzzle twice when it came around so far.
Glad to see the site is supporting it's self. This is a good stress relief site!
Thank all the creators

sue1

I gave it another shot today, Joan, but 1:24 seems about the best I can do.

joan454

I forgot to tell you. The fact that this puzzle went viral has brought so much attention to the Jigidi site that the site is able to sell advertising and make enough money to support itself.

The site was previously supported by persons who chose to join and send money to the man who created and runs the programing. He also supported it himself from his own funds.

joan454

We are just having fun on the frozen seawater puzzle. It is normal for a puzzle to get 50 to 80 solves.
Some puzzles get a couple of hundred solves.
A rare few have had over 500 solves.
But this one went "viral" and it just keeps getting hits.
So, I just wondered, "would this puzzle ever get a million solves?".
So, we wait and watch, that's all. LOL

I saw the comments, is there something I'm missing as to why everyone wants to hit the million mark on this puzzle?
I mean, I'm hooked on it and probably play it 20+ times per day but, still don't understand the million. I am old and slow though. :)

Ahh, you two . . .. You forget
The Law of the Whole+"

octomom

Darn you, Pee-Squirt, I was going to post the Law of Half here, but you beat me to it. I'll get you for that.

And I'll forgive you for your Democratic rantings, because I like the other parts of you, but I know others don't like you so well and so they won't...

patsquire

OK, I guess..............never!

By the Law of Diminishing Returns, the closer we get to 1,000,000 the fewer people will participate and the less frequently it will be solved.

By Einstein's Theory of Relativity the closer you get to the speed of light the more massive you become, until you can't accelerate any further or go any faster, so you can never reach the speed of light.

By the Law of Half every time you get half-way from where you are to 1,000,000, you still have half-way to go, and since there are infinite half-ways to go you can never get there.

AND FINALLY by the law of Democrats And Jesse Jackson you can win the early primaries by landslides and start piling up delegates for the presidential nomination, but as you actually start to become a possible nominee, Democrats vote for you less and less, until you come to a screeching halt.

So I say..............we'll never make it to 1,000,000!

836474 / 365 = 2292 average solves per day

Wondering... will this get to 1 million solves?

just played it 2 times maybe a few more times before I get off work. Only about 170,296 left to 1mil . If I did 2k a day it would take me 85.148 days to get 170,296 complete! hehe

Super picture sure glad you posted it on jigidi forum or I would not know about it. Thanks again Joan good luck on your count

mariolyn, I have no idea where I found this. I had googled something and, having ADD, I went off on tangents and found this. But I don't know where.....

I had been solving this on and off for months, after I chanced upon it through a comment on one of Magnus' puzzles, I believe, but then it slipped my mind and fell further and further into the depths of my bookmarks. Thanks for the reminder, lajuin. I'll keep adding to the tally, even though the leader-board is out of reach!

That sounds like it's about right, 1500 a day or so maybe.

Hey gang I think the counter on this puzzle is broken 16 hours ago it was 723.003 Now it's 724,110 should check with the boss

I just did it again. Not quite as fast as Sue. 1:29 is my best time so far. Joan, your puzzle is absolutely amazing.

joan454

Go Sue, Go Sue, Go Sue...

sue1

Tried again, down to 1:24...still miles away from the list. 723,003 solves at the moment.

Congrats, Joan. I gave it another shot. Still at 1:47, miles too slow. LOL

Good, our Roxanne is back!!

Magnus

I've just discovered a bug in the database. The 63 years was wrong - it's only around 4 years at the current almost 500,000 solves.

Sorry for that. I thought I had the accurate number of seconds, but there seems to be miscalculations once in a while. The same goes for the current record of 23 seconds. I doubt that's possible, but I will figure that out eventually.

The number of solves is correct though :-)

joan454

27. Apr 2011 - 23:35 number of solves: 481947

I am never going to make one million solves if the solve/rate keeps slowing like this.

The solve rate is now down to 130 per hour.

joan454

472554 at 24. Apr 2011 - 15:43
And, Sue, the 63 years was when it was solved approximately 100,000 times!
Think how many years it is NOW! LOL

juneshone

amazing photograph. Amazing numbers. Jenna had abut 547 solvers for one of hers but I think you have just pipped her! Well done Joan.

I hope it does not crash the server.
I hope it make you some money!

I start a new job on March 28, and I hope I may find the money to become a supporter of the site.

joan454

Man, way to make me feel old, dude! ;-P

Magnus

People have spent more than 2 billion seconds solving this puzzle. That's more than 63 years!

sue1

Yippee, our own dear Roxanne is top of the list. You rock, girlfriend. GO!!

sue1

I am certainly not there. I expect that those who work it "off Jigidi" like my friend did have no chance to make the list. Remember you have to be signed in on Jigidi itself to have a chance at the list.

Way to go, Joan!:) Thanks for a great puzzle.

Gaillou

That is amazing, Joan! The picture and the numbers!

VermontMeow

I'm impressed Joan.

WOW Joan, what an honor!!! So neat to see one of our own. I wonder if Magnus knows????
