The green stuff you see in the photo is mostly landscaping that is kept reasonably well watered. The river bottom, though is mostly wild and brushy, so it burns pretty easily. http://www.pe.com/local-news/riverside-county/riverside/riverside-headlines-index/20130228-jurupa-fire-acreage-at-150-to-175-acres-evac-center-set-up.ece for the latest info.
It does not look that dry Possum. What started it this time?
Ohhh, I would HATE it too, and be very scared!! I DO hope that it has been put out and that you are safe!! Thanks Varda!!
Nice 'n warm then............
That is pretty scary, Laura. I had never encountered the term "fire dragon" before, but it is very appropriate. Wildfires can be treacherous.
Have a look at this photo I took while my husband fought a "fire dragon" here in Arizona. We were both volunteers with our local department, though he was a firefighter and I did other things.http://www.jigidi.com/created.php?id=JHG34J36
God was with you Plum. Awesome photo!
Kat, this is Riverside, CA. The fire was about a mile from me. Thanks for your good wishes.
Good luck wherever you are.
