Have you any idea how much I spluttered with laughter after reading your comments? I recognise that pattern... you sound exactly like Sally. If one is good, fifteen is better! Talk about a siege mentality LOL. I'm not quite so dedicated as you two but I do keep a good supply of essentials like art materials and potato chips :-) I'm still grinning at your comments :-)))
As much as I complain about the bookmarks, I need to have at least several pages worth in case everyone stops posting for a few days or some such other disaster occurs (as if!!). My pantry needs to be full for the same reason - heaven forbid I run out of something!!! Same with closet full of fabric, cupboard full of crafts. I'm sure you see the pattern here :))))
Quirky I understand! Would it help if I made stuff you really hated LOL. I've given up bookmarking as I end up with dozens of them and not enough time to do them. My eyes tend to be bigger than my belly so what I do now is solve what I want, whenever I can. Works for me :-)
Well, don't mull for too long - I already do about 95% of your puzzles! Your puzzles are very unique and generally mesh with my quirky side :) When I think my bookmarks are getting out of hand, I start doing more medium sized puzzles. That helps keep everything in check.
OK, I think I understand. Complexity and not run of the mill would seem to be the way to go for you. I'll mull that over. Poor solve rates don't bother me. I'll keep posting :-) Let's hope new large puzzle creators don't come out of the woodwork or you'll never be able to keep up!
Foxy, the reason I'm not big on squares is because I don't like large areas of a single colour or small patterns and that's what many squares on Jigidi tend to be. Of course the same goes for circles, triangles, etc. This wouldn't matter if I did small puzzles, but my preference is large puzzles, whenever possible. My favourite puzzles are usually swirls, but I have wide and varied tastes. I like uniqueness and nothing too simple. A lot of the puzzles which are my favourites don't get very many solves, so I'm always appreciative to you and others who continue to post large sizes puzzles, despite the poor solve rates!! I do most of your puzzles, as well as SMors, pedevredis, Sue1, Wendy_13, and many, many more. And that's why I have so much trouble keeping up!!
This is a puzzle which I consider on the simpler side of the scale, and I will solve it on a day when I'm tired or distracted :))))
Hi Den, (or would you prefer Denise?) thanks for putting us in the loop with Stefan's reply. I hope the more he sees that we don't understand the easier it might be for him to update the FAQ in simple terms for all to follow :-)
Thanks, Ann. I can't say I really understand the big puzzle addiction even though I did solve this one. It's not something which compels me enough to solve at the risk of driving myself to distraction but I'm happy for you that you enjoy it so much :-)
Just had an interesting reply from Stefan re a query I sent him about the maximum puzzle size. Your 4:3 ratio is quite correct. I am pasting his response here for your information
Hi Denise,
Thanks for the feedback and kind words. You're very sweet! I completely understand if you're a bit confused about the sizes. We've fundamentally changed the puzzle creation process which is why it's different than before. If you make your images 1200x1200 you should be able to go up to 400 pieces. 1600x1200 (or larger in the same aspect ratio) will take your puzzles to 540 pieces. I hope this helps and I'll make sure to add this information to the FAQ. Thanks again for taking the time out to write
Lots of fun to do Chrissie. Tis going to drive me to distraction just getting the bigger ones done. Great patches/squares here - just a great size to do too. Thanks.
Aah, whattie dearest I can see it fifty years or so in the future.. a headstone shaped like a jigsaw puzzle piece with R.I.P. carved on it... Rest In Pieces :-)))
Just kidding! I did this one in squares so that it might prove more palatable in the 540 size. What do you prefer?
No worries, Den... I didn't realise you were an Aussie either :-) I'm not a "Kath and Kim" fan so the name reference is lost on me. I chose the name because my nickname is foxy and I'm not a moron so that gave me an oxymoron to play with :-)
I'd never have known you are using basic software going by the great art work you create. Your creativity is decidedly not basic! I think from what Stefan wrote that there is no longer a size limit on images we upload. I may be wrong though! He said he was going to update the FAQs to show the changes to image size and parameters for the maximum pieces. Maybe keep checking there until he's done it? Meanwhile try the 4:3 ratio and whatever size you like. It will either work or it won't and it won't break Jigidi to try it :-) Let me know how you go!
Foxy - Just put two and two together and realised you are from Australia too. I must admit I thought it a bit of a co-incidence that a American would pick such a "Kath and Kim" name. In fact when I thought they had I was gropable
Oooooh - what a sassy super sized sampler from my dearest Chrissie! This was a real treat and the extra pieces were the icing on the cake ~ Merci lollies !
PS - I've just taught our visitors from Oz how to drive on the right side of the road, LOL !
HI foxy. I generally don't care much for squares. However these stripes, and particularly the diagonals, look intriguing, so I will have to give this a try. I'm thrilled with the new maximum size, but these puzzles are going to be the death of me!!!! And a glorious death it will be. LOL
hi foxy
I dont have anything as sophisticated as Photoshop. I just use the very basic Paint and Sumo Paint to draw with a bit of Lunapic and Picassa as a photo editor. I know it's very basic but so is my capacity at creativity!
In the old jigidi, the image had to be close to, but not exceeding, 1.2 mega pixel , the file size less than 300kb and it had to be jpeg but there's no mention of what it is in the new jigidi
Will try the 4:3 ratio and see how I get on
Thanks, den. We never knew what the previous parameters were in the "old" Jigidi! We asked the same question too :-) If you use a 4:3 ratio it will yield the maximum 540 pieces. I think it helps to make your puzzles as large a resolution as possible in order to maintain some clarity of detail in the 540 piece size. It seemed to work OK with this puzzle but it probably helps to make high resolution patterns or layer styles too. I use PS CS5 to create, with a touch of PS Elements and Sumopaint for extra tweaking. What do you use?
Hi Foxy,
This is great - thanks. Have you worked out what the parameters are for the original image in oder to get the max 540 pieces. I know what they were in old jigidi, but there is no comment on this on the new jigidi - just that it can be done. When I gave feedback on the new jigidi to Magnus an Stefan I asked if they would fill us in on how to create the max but have had no reply so far. I can't seem to get over 480. Even making the original image larger doesn't get me over this number. Any suggestions?
