An even better picture for a Thoreau based puzzle. I read recently that his journals are being consulted about fauna that no longer exists where he spent his time in the wood. Some of the species have surfaced further north where conditions are cooler longer in the spring. Some of the species which are still there, are appearing much earlier in the spring than they did when he made note of them.
