These birds are a problem. The do not build nests, but lay their eggs in the nests of smaller birds such as warblers, vireos and chipping sparrows. When they hatch, they are larger than the other hatchlings and push them out of the nest.

Hi warbler. Never knew they could get in the bluebird houses. The sparrows get in mine and kill the sitting female and/or the young.

warbler

They get in our Bluebird boxes, too if were not vigilant. They're rough in the feeders, too. Its a funny little song they sing, though, not what I would expect at all. Thanks Chickiemama

Cowbirds are a little on the lazy side and look out for only themselves....hard on the smaller birds and many little ones never survive after they get pushed out of their nest they cannot protect themselves against other animals that are preying for small things to eat...but that is the way nature protects itself.......thanks for the great photo chickie

Just the same as the European Cuckoo. Could be a relative.
Nice bird though.

morenamad

We have the same problem with a lot of people.
