Lovely, please don't hunt them.
Thank you snooker, shirley, islandflyer, Celeste, Sissel and Hanne.
LOL islandflyer, not sure if they can be hunted or if they are protected Celeste? They acted like they feel safe where they are.
Oh, they're beautiful, such fine antlers!! Thanks so very much Sandy!
Beautiful puzzle - thanks for sharing :-)
So cool. Can ya hunt them?
A pleasant sight. Did you eat any? Oops. :)
They all look quite contented there.
Would not have thought to look for elk in CA. In the Rockies yes.
Thank you morris and TS.
I would have loved this part of your trip! Nice shot. Thanks.
Nice shot chickie!
Thank you punkie. My nephew said they wander freely up and down the coast. We saw another smaller herd a little farther north.
Great shot! Is this in a protected area where they are, or do they just wander all about?
The Pacific Ocean is behind them. There are 3 kind of Elk in No. America.
The roosevelt Elk live mainly in Oregon and Washington, but there are some herds in Northern California. They are the largest of the three, weighing up to 1000 lbs. The others are Rocky Mtn. Elk orAmerican Elk found in northern states and the Tule Elk found in Central California.
