Thanks for stopping by, milady. It's funny you should mention the ocean. I find rocks all the time with marine fossils, mainly crinoids and brachipods. This whole area was covered with an ocean around 400 million years ago. Then the tide went out and never came back! I don't expect it back very soon.
It's sad to see the old, small towns die and populations diminish. Nice of you to capture them and preserve and share them with the rest of us who would otherwise never know about them...
Thanks JC. Hope you and Sue are enjoying yourselves!!
Just stopped into jigidi for a minute. I'd love to get an old abandoned building and convert it to living and working space. If Wheaton only had an ocean, this would be it. Thanks for stopping for the pics and posting them for us. They're great.
Sue parked at one end of the town and I asked her to wait 5 to 10 minutes while I snapped pictures then come and pick me up. Silly me. After 3 minutes, I was walking back as Sue came to meet me.
The 2000 population was 721. Not many businesses left in Wheaton.
