Thanks for the info Chickie, PG. I've heard about this but never tried it. I have an 8 acre pond in my front yard, so I could wash off after rolling around. And all my neighbors would be passed out, in amazement, that is!
The chickster is right Warbler I had the same problem with deer around my house in PA they ate everything that grew and they loved the tulips and daylilys but I found a new use for Irish Spring. I would cut up a bar and place it around the plants and the deer would leave them alone and when it rained I would go out and roll around in the patch and get my bath. Not high on the neighbors list of thing to watch out there windows but it kept the deer away. Hope this helps.
Warbler, you could try hanging old bars of stinky soap around them. It worked for me when I planted small white pines. The deer were eating the new growth like crazy until I hung soap in old net onion bags. They haven't bothered the daylilys for some reason.
