It's a shame the service part went away. I bet if someone opened a station and gave all the same services as in the past they'd have lines around the block! Washing the windshield, checking the air and oil, etc. They'd make a fortune.
I agree, I loved the service, pity it's gone
Wow, I'd forgotten that "Service" stations used to give service. It's just a very distant memory now. Today they could be called "money drop" stations, but it doesn't have the same appeal. Glad you shared this lovely example of days gone by.
I know, too bad the service went away and the prices got higher!
A thing of the past that once had service to go with the petrol.
You're welcome, Maryrob, a blast from the past! Thanks, Morris.
We used to have Sinclair stations here too, this brings back childhood memories. Thanks Texas
Nice one tex!
Thank you, PLG, Chickie & Cel!
Very nice TS.
Fun to see this. I remember the dinosaur too. Thanks, TS!
Yes, they did have a green dinosaur! They used to give little rubber ones away to the kids. Good memory, Fleetwood! Thank you, Jacques, Sis & Lyndee. Oddio, you do have good eyes, or at least an eye for detail, I didn't notice it either, although it's pretty prominent. This station is in Albany, Texas.
A well kept-up station. Thanks
Nanax, no special eyesight! Under the signs "lubrication" and "washing" were overhead doors into the garage area. Now those doorways are turned into big square windows. That's all I was saying. :>)
Man, Oddio, you've got great vision. I can't see the glass. Great puzzle, Sis! Thanks!
beautiful station tex
This must be a "museum piece"? One pump, and the lube bays are glassed in... Great to see this old style station. I was surprised to see that Sinclair is still a working brand. None around this area, but saw them in my recent travels.
Didn't they have a green dinosaur as their logo?
