The quality of these things was on par with other 58 Ford products. Somewhere between average and lousy. The biggest problem was that they are butt ugly.
I didn't know there was a "woody" Edsel station wagon.
When my Mom broke her right arm and couldn't shift gears, Dad got her a used Edsel sedan with an automatic transmission, because it had a pad of buttons to shift with instead of a lever! The pad was located in the center of the steering wheel.
His motives weren't entirely pure. He had an auto body shop and she was the one who went to town to pick up parts for him. :)
