Doesn`t matter Roseheather. At least now I will know next New Years Day that you probably will be watching it later that day:))))))
What an interesting coincidence! I will think of you next year. Yes, I think it is taped and then broadcast because it is usually late afternoon or early evening. I don't recall now, which it is.
My year always starts with the New Year `s Concert in Vienna, as long as I can remember, Roseheather. It`s broadcasted live around the world, for us that means around noon. For you that must be very early in the morning????? It`s probably broadcasted later in the day then???If Julie Andrews narrates the broadcast (I LOVE Julie Andrews) she doesn`t do it live. I often see her in the audience. I`m certain I saw her this year too:))))By the way : though when I hear a waltz I always think of Strauss first, The Second Waltz is not by Strauss but by Shostakovich. If I hadn`t read that on the internet I wouldn`t have known eighter:))))))
I have seen Andre Rieu on public television, PBS, here, so I am familiar with him, though I had not remembered that he was Dutch. Funny, because I was reminded of Strauss music when I was seeing the video last evening, and I know that he has focused on Strauss music at times. For a number of years we saw the Strauss Waltz concert from Vienna, Austria on PBS, on New Year's Day. It used to be narrated by Walter Chronkite, who was a retired TV journalist. For maybe three years now Julie Andrews has been narrating the Strauss concert, but we didn't see it this New Year's because we were on our way back to MI from our son's in North Carolina.
For Roseheather :I made a mistake in the link I gave you for the Andre Rieu-video. This is the correct one :http://www.youtube.com/embed/e-y581HdWfY?rel=O
You are right Roseheather, I have been taking photo`s (mostly in summer) of the same places the maker of this video did.It shows the more picturesque scenes of Ridderkerk of course:))) To the end there are photos of the park you will have recognized of my winterpuzzles of that same park (which I can see from my window). This same music you can hear with "Winter in Ridderkerk 1" , another video of the same maker. You can find it with the first one I gave you, to the right of the video there are links to other videos, you will find it there. The music is The Second Waltz and I think it`s by Andre Rieu.If you want to see and hear more of Andre Rieu (a Dutch violinist with his own orchestra) try : http://www.youtube.com/embed/e-y581HdWpY?rel=O , he is in New York there playing Sinatra`s My Way, you might like that as well. To the right of this video there are much more Andre Rieu videos. You`ll find The Second Waltz there too. And if you watch The Second Waltz you will find to the right of that one, almost at the bottom, Andre Rieu Live at Schönbrunn Vienna. That`s a funny one. I love it. There`s always humor in his shows. He performs all over the world and speaks a lot of languages. The vidio with Andre and the 3 year old Akim is funny too.
Thank you, thank you for that wonderful link to Ridderkerk. The music is delightful as well. My husband heard the music and came in to see what I was watching. Such a beautiful, beautiful place. I thought I was seeing some familiar places from the puzzles that you have posted.I will be going back to that again, when I need a soothing break. It was really enjoyable. ; )
