Very interesting, franneke; our American robins are just the opposite. Although they're territorial at nesting time, they flock in the winter. A few years ago, I saw more than 70 clustered in several trees during a storm, and routinely saw flights of up to 10 during the winter. Although the robins we see in the winter have probably migrated from more northerly climes rather than the ones which summered here.

I guess the creator of the picture was trying to make lovebirds out of them ... LOL
Thanks for the new year's wish! Thirteen is my lucky number so I'm looking forward to it! :)

Lovely image but a doctored photo. Robins are very territorial especially in winter and will not tolerate another robin. The robin on the right has been superimposed.
Another interesting fact is that most winter robins in Britain have migrated from Europe and our summer robins have migrated to Europe. Unusual but true.
Hoping you have a brill New Year.

I think they are so pretty. What a nice little splash of color they must add to the winter.

I believe these are English Robins - the popular little chat after which our American Robin is named. They apparently reside in England all year, and are favorites at Christmastime.
