On our trip to New England we visited Walden Pond where Henry David Thoreau lived for 2 years. He said this about the chairs in his cabin: "I had three chairs in my house; one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society." The bottom right picture shows a statue of Thoreau. Even though he lived in the shack for 2 years a great number of his friends visited him here including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Bronson Alcott (father of Louisa May Alcott). Since he grew up in the area, he would go home for a good meal and for his mother to do his laundry!

Well, you do live in the woods, but not quite like this, Cheryl. LOL. You have a nice cozy home with plenty of room for you and Mickey and your fur babies with lovely outdoor space.

This makes me want to be young, healthy and able to live in the woods like this again. I know, you probably think I do live in the woods. LOL!

It was certainly fascinating! You must know a lot of the details of their lives.

That's roughing it! Not that I haven't heard about the friends and the laundry before. After all, I was a literature major.
