Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Hawthorn Lane Aqueduct, also known as Cut Hole Bridge, about 30m, south of the Watch House.

There are three arches. Looking from the west, Hawthorn Road passes under the first arch. The other two arches were originally an overflow channel, from the River Mersey. The channel became redundant after the banks of river were raised and are now footpaths.

I thought you would like the three arches, Sandi ☺☺

Thanks Jackie, built in the early 1770's!!! ☺☺

It's difficult to tell Beth. In 1940/41, metal railings were requisitioned throughout the country due to the shortage of raw materials ☺☺

Is the old railing still under the vine (which looks like it's been growing since before the 1901 photo)?

great picture, love it. I wonder how old the bridge is ?
