Wow! What an outstanding shot of this bird, it's absolutely perfect! Not a single feather out of place! He's incredible, I LOVE his colors! Thanks so much for posting this Rob! Loved it!...Monica
We have a "family" that has been around for about 15 years. Last fall, one took to perching on the roof right above our den and announcing its presence every evening between 10:00-10:30. :)
Gorgeous picture, robryan! In partial answer to lyndee's question: Se Alaska, sw. Canada (ie lower west coast of British Columbia), w. USA to Guatamala. Generally a very shy bird and yet they have a piercing call that announces their exact location! I've had them at my suet feeders - very pretty. I'm with patsquire on this one! :)
Take your camera lyndee!! I hope you see one - thanks. Thanks lauralyn. He's a very talented photographer dondi!! Thanks. Thanks dgdenton. Thanks spdean - Oh! lucky you!! I'd like to see them in Australia!!
Beautiful picture! We have have the Yellow-Shafted Flicker (Northern Flicker) in New England. They are a delight with their "flicka-flicka-flicka" song.
This is one of the many, endless reasons I believe that evolution IS creation. While the evolution of life is an ongoing fact, pure, stunning beauty such as this just couldn't happen accidentally. Call it intelligent design if you like (I call it art), who says the designer's day is 24 earth hours long?
I don't wish to give offense to any believers or nonbelievers. I think creationists and evolutionists are BOTH right.
