LJ sadly over the years the Salmon ladder has been very quiet. In 1964 when I first went there, the tanks were absolutely full. Nice to hear you went around so much.
Thanks for the information, lj.
The building you are referring to, snooker, is the Tayport Pile Lighthouse, which is situated in the Tay Estuary, a short distance from the harbor. It's one of the few remaining examples of this type of structure in the UK. Built in the mid 19th century (around 1848), it ceased to be operational in about 1960.
Robbie, that is awesome! You really know Scotland, then. I go to Pitlochry for an afternoon almost every time I am in Scotland. I like to look in the shops and end up at Victoria's for a cup of tea and scone. I have visited the salmon ladder, but never saw much of anything. Must have been off season.
Thanks for your comments, pumpkin, morris, PLG, Robbie, snooker and Celeste! Great hearing from you.
Great pic LJ :)
Lj, what is the building in the water in the background?
LJ my aunt married a Scot and I spent holidays from school and visited over the years. Pitlochry in Perthshire is where they lived and Uncle Jimmy worked at Edradour distillery in Balnauld. I have been all over Scotland including the Orkneys, you must have really enjoyed living there.
Great set! Thanks!
Love it, laura!
Such a fine harbor you have captured.
Robbie, did you live in Scotland or just visit? Where were you?
Many thanks for your comments, chickie, lyndee, Lorna and Robbie!
Another super picture LJ, I miss Scotland!
Love the colours and shimmering water Laura - great photo.
Nice set of pictures today LauraJane. Thanks
Love it Laura!
