We still have bubble lights, and you can still buy sets of them! But, yes, I loved them as a child and I love them now, as a grandma!
I don't regret the passing of the bulbs that got so hot they could melt tinsel, or set a tree or paper ornament on fire, though--and I especially don't miss the strings of bulbs set in series and not parallel! If one bulb went out, they all shut off, and I was always the one in charge of going through the whole set to see which bulb needed to be replaced!
