Thanks Gladstone, pumpkinhead, and Patti. I took these two weekends ago and finally had a chance to sort the pics. These gulls look like they're running on the water. Sometimes they fly with their feet dangling and the feets skip on the surface a little.

I wouldn't want that guy chasing me!!!
