Potter is a domestic Mini Rex doe with a coat colour known as "castor" and an incredible coat that feels like velveteen (double-coated - guard hairs same length as undercoat). The castor coat colour looks somewhat like that of a wild rabbit. (Domestics cannot breed with wild cottontails -- different species.) In the days of this picture, she used to have fairly free run of the house and was (bunny) litter trained. As you know, sue1, they have quite the personalities and can vocalize too. The chittering noise when contented, some little squeaks, and, in Potter's case, a growl that sounds like a cat's growl. Not that you hear that often...she only used it to train our Meara when she was a puppy. lol Potter is the alpha animal in the house...these little ones can be quite feisty! Now that we have three dogs, she and the younger male, Mister Tweedles, have to be monitored just so they don't get hurt inadvertently. They are my daughter's rabbits and our whole family has enjoyed getting to know them. Potter is currently 8 1/2 yrs old. Thanks for your comments, sue1 and roseheather.
I had pet rabbits as a child, house pets too.
This is a house pet, I would guess. Someone in our town also had a bunny as a house pet. Cute!
Potter loves these toys that we make out of natural wood, hay cubes, jute and coloured with vegetable dyes..
