Just looks like a leaf to me; there are lots lying around, and he could easily have picked it up.

When I did the puzzle, I noticed that this baby has something hanging from his belly, which is obvioulsy bothering him, by the way he kept trying to scratch that spot. I can't tell what it is, but it doesn't look good.
