This week's Jigidi theme is "Automobiles", so I made these kaleidoscopes from images of Thailand's ubiquitous Tuk Tuks!! Pronounced as "took took" because of the sound of their motorcycle two-stroke engines, they are described as "auto rickshaws", and are found in many countries, not just Thailand. But that is where I've had personal experience of them. In Thailand, they are EVERYWHERE, and the drivers tout for business by saying "transport?" to you, and making wildly exaggerated gestures of steering a car. Much to their amusement, I usually answer them with "I already have transport", and point to my legs! LOL For those of you who have never heard of Tuk Tuks, here's a link to the Wikipedia entry for them:

The images I use are freely available on the internet. And I use a variety of programs to make my kaleidoscopes, colour the backgrounds and assemble them into a collage. All of which takes around 2 hours.

It gives me immense pleasure making them, and I hope it gives you pleasure solving them. :-)

Good afternoon Ardy! I hope this was challenging just due to the size, because each kaleido is an 8x8 which is probably bigger than any kaleido you normally tackle! I don't think it could have been because of the colours.

It's Ingrid that's coming down. And I'm worried that I've built my puzzle up a little bit - it's just a bit different for me that's all. Don't get too excited. Although, I have to say that I love how it came out. But then I usually do with the surprise puzzles. And that doesn't guarantee them a good reception. Sigh. And I'll try to get to my emails today - depending on what time Ingrid arrives. ((HUGS))

Good morning, Kirsten. (It's fun to say that!!!) This was a challenging one but I so enjoyed playing with these fun colors. Thank you. Enjoy your weekend with your sister. Which one is coming? We'll see you on Jigidi when and if you show up. I'm looking forward to waking up in my tomorrow to your Friday Surprise. Just in case you haven't seen it, I did answer your email. ((HUGS))

All 100% tuk tuk, I can assure you, Don!! But I agree that the "blender", has alchemy powers. It can take the mundane, and turn it into something exquisite! Not that I think tuk tuks are mundane, I have to say. I think they are marvellously inventive. Necessity being the mother, and all that. And the ones in the pics that I used were wonderfully shiny and polished. So the chrome of the headlights, created the glint and gleam you see.

As always, I love your critique. And am happy that you enjoyed this offering. :)))

Very pretty. The emerald and silver is like a piece of jewelry, and the blue background looks faintly Eastern - middle east, Indian or Chinese?
