Furthermore, today's Oregonian featured a letter from a woman who wrote that Israel is an occupier and killing innocent civilians. It's EXACTLY as I predicted to a friend yesterday. If they wouldn't put their military and arsenal smack in the middle of civilians who are used as shields, they wouldn't be killed. It absolutely breaks my heart that nine members of one family in Gaza were killed, including children, because a militant was holed up in the home.

Thanks, Annie. I read the same thing, but I'm glad you posted it.

"Iron Dome shoots down rockets with a radar-guided missile known as Tamir, which was developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, an Israeli company. The radar was developed by Elta, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, and another company, Impress, developed the command and control system.

Because each interceptor missile costs $40,000 to $50,000, the system is designed to aim only at rockets headed for populated areas and to ignore those destined for open ground outside cities and towns."

It is worth every penny! That's a great quote from Golda Meir.

Golda Meir:

"Peace will come to the Middle East when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us."

As quoted in Media Bias and the Middle East (2003), by Paul Carlson, p. 10.

I feel horrible for the innocent Palestinians. But Hamas has chosen this route by putting their military installations and bomb storage facilities in the middle of the civilian population. I hope the Iron Dome has a lot of anti-bomb missiles. It costs about $500 for a Iranian-made bomb (where Hamas is getting their firepower lately), but the Iron Dome missiles cost $100,000 each. For every Israeli killed, 100 Palestinians die. Not a fair trade-off, one would think, from Hamas' point of view.

From the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights:

From January 2000 through September 2012, there were 6,500 Palestinians killed by Israeli security forces to 69 Israelis. There are more statistics here:

Hamas is going to get a shellacing! Plain and simple. It's pitiful that there will be much loss to innocent folks from both sides.

Tell that to the Palestinians. One of the main problems I see is that Hamas sends hundreds of bombs into Israel. Then, Israel retaliates, as it has the right to defend itself. Then, the world blames Israel for aggression.

I agree!! Bombs don't solve problems, people do!!
