Hi plumpossum, always good to here other peoples stories.. :-)
What a wonderful airplane! My first experience of air travel was on an American Airlines DC3 flight from a small mountain town in West Virginia to the big city - - Washington, DC. a very long time ago!
Hi willey19live, thanks for the input, lucky you with all that flying on them.. I've only flown on one and that was back in the sixties.. I flew from Jersey to England in one because the ferries were on strike... As we trundled along Jersey's short airstrip I did wonder if it was going to get up enough speed before the end of the runway and the cliff that was just beyond it.. we did :-)
The Dakota, or Gooney Bird or Puff the Magic Dragon, (Viet Nam),Sky Train, DC-2, DC-3, One Aircraft that had a DC-2 wing installed on a DC-3, was called a DC -2 1/2, Just a fantastic Aircraft with a phenomenal history, First built in the early 1930's, & many are still operational today, & yes, I have many hours working & flying on them. What an experience.
