A lovely photo Cathy. Your friend is right about the willow. You can cut the branches every year and use it for everything, the next year you have new branches. It's a very easy tree. You see them often in NL. And just put a branch in the ground, water it and you have a new tree.

Hi JC. I asked my friend and she told me it is a willow tree. They prune them down to this size every year. She said the branches can be stripped and used to make baskets or decorative fences or trellises. Sometimes the branches that are stuck in the ground to make the fence actually sprout!! So apparently it is quite easy to propagate.

Thank you Suzy, Lorna and Morris!! I posted this picture yesterday and after two hours it had about 4 solves. I removed it and posted it again today and it is getting a bunch of solves. I wonder if it went in as offensive yesterday. I wonder why!?
