ladycharnley

Well - thank you Starlord for such a fun filled day, the puzzles, the music and my new crest. This calls for another party and you must be the guest of honour.

I shall make all the arrangements tomorrow - in the meantime, roll the credits :o) and
cue harmonica .... sleep well everyone..... night :)))))) morning Neville ..

starlord

I surely do... :-)

ladycharnley

Why Starlord, you are most kind - my thanks. Yes I am unveiling my new Crest. Hope you all like it.

starlord

Oh wow, Lady C... allow me to compliment you with your new av. Far better than a silhouette. Very classy, very posh, very... Lady C :-)

starlord

Albert? The one and only Albert Hammond? You're bound never to forget him from now on :-)

ladycharnley

Well you know Starlord, no I didn't notice that his guitar was scratched, and guess what, I must have bumped into Albert about six times today as well :)))))

starlord

lol, thngs like that can happen, Major D :-)
Did you notice how scratched his guitar is? This is not road worn, this is: I cannot strum the strings properly.

MajorDon

I knew his face, I was sure of it - then when I saw his name - I'd never seen him before :)

starlord

Lol Lady C, that's a good one :-)
One has to study the pic, Aggie, not just glance at it :-)
@ Pk :-)))))

pkin38

:~)))))))

aggie

Good morning to you too ladyc. Now I see he has the 2 instruments there. Didn't look close enough I guess.

ladycharnley

Morning Aggie, it was very challenging this morning, I had to go in for deep research, then Nevile just said who it was and Squishy came in from the Doc's and said who it was and I was on a journey to the centre of the earth I can tell you - LOL
A clue below was that he plays the harmonica and Major Don told this joke - Does your sister play the mouth organ? Yes - it's our Monica :) Hilarious - don't you just love that.

starlord

Morning Aggie :-)
Indeed, they had a tough time finding today's mystery person :-)

aggie

Good morning starlord and everyone. I'm too late again. Congrats to Neville on the win.

starlord

You are soooo bad, all of you :-)
As a well deserved punishment, I'll post a DYR of a local Belgian band...
That'll teach you

ladycharnley

It is a 'me' word isn't it Neville - it usually goes with approbation. Magnanimus approbation - perfect :)))

MajorDon

yes, she is indefatigable

ulangariver

It's a "lady charnley" word, starlord. She will know exactly what it means, as she probably learned it at Finishing School.

starlord

Had to look up the word 'magnanimous', Neville... I have problems with words of more than two syllables :-)

ulangariver

Many thanks indeed, lady c - Marge & I agree that you are most magnanimous. King George Park is a lovely spot here in Sydney. And to all the other starlord fans, many thanks for your good wishes. Most appreciated.

starlord

Awwww how sweet :-)

ladycharnley

Yes I can sponsor a prize, I have a little place in King George Park in Sydney, you may have free use of that Neville. Let me know when you want to take Marge and I will arrange for a full team of staff to be at at your disposal.

starlord

Now all you need is a British (European) Rock bible :-)

ulangariver

I have a U.S. Rock Bible too. Romeo's Tune got to No.11 on Billboard in January 1980.

starlord

Romeo's Tune didn't score that high here, but is considered to be his greatest hit. I listened to it and ... didn't recognize it :-)
Lady C, can you sponsor a prize? Donate one of your castles in Australia

MajorDon

I've never heard of him or Romeo's tune. But I would have seen his cameo appearance in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video, playing her boyfriend. what a claim to fame

ladycharnley

NEVILLE ..... WOW .....congratulations and very well done, take a pat on the back :))))))

ulangariver

My Oz Rock Bible tells me that Steve Forbert got to No.19 here, with "Romeo's Tune", in March 1980. I do not know the tune entitled "Schoolgirl".

starlord

aaah Squish... just missed it then, what a shame :-(
But there's another one available on FB with no guesses yet :-)))))))

MajorDon

well done Neville - wouldn't have got it in 24 hours

starlord

Well ...Neville is today's winner.... Way to go Neville.
Steve Forbert it is. And his hit here was 'Schoolgirl'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_XK-BC8i3M

Never thought he would be known Down Under... Many congrats for this win.
And for the others... better luck tomorrow :-)

squishy2

Just got back from doctor's - just read all the clues - just found his name and Neville beat me to it...

ladycharnley

No Major, mintaka got Stan Ridgeway - how about Steve Ray Vaughan

ulangariver

Was it Steve Forbert?

starlord

Oh he surely will, Lady C, no doubt about that :-)
Did I miss the joke?

MajorDon

I was going to say stan ridgeway :(

ladycharnley

No - Major Don will find him :)
Major, love our monica joke :)))))

starlord

Final clue: initials S F

starlord

No Lady C... it never took this long, did it?
Did I finally find a real mystery singer? :-))))

ladycharnley

Ricky Scaggs ?

starlord

Alas, Lady C :-(
Here's a clue Major D.
This guy was born in 1954. His greatest hit (over here) was about a girl in a particular stage of her life.
Will this do? :-)

MajorDon

Give us a year Starlord - 1970s?

ladycharnley

Doc Watson, Boss Scaggs, Randy Bachman ?

ladycharnley

How about Rob Roy Parnell ?

starlord

You're right about that, Neville... He really doesn't look much like Arlo Guthrie...

ulangariver

OK, my next try is Arlo Guthrie, though it doesn't look very much like him.

starlord

Morning Neville :-) No Donovan, even though he played the same instruments :-)
It's an American who had a hit in Belgium, Major D. So I assume he is known in the UK as well. Not sure if he's in Neville's famous book, but he'll tell us later for sure ;)

MajorDon

Does your sister play the mouthorgan? Yes - it's our Monica :)

MajorDon

Hi Neville - I thought it was Don Partridge (Rosie - oh Rosie) so I messaged Starlord and he said no - but he did have a hit in Belgium. Does that clue help if you live in Australia!!! doesn't help me much here :)

ulangariver

I'll try for Donovan (Leitch), but I'm not real confident.

starlord

I'll have to start my daily routine, so I'll be AFK for some 20 mins

starlord

None of those, Lady C. Here's another clue: he plays the guitar and harmonica. :)
Now that surely helps, doesn't it?

ladycharnley

Jay Bennett ?

ladycharnley

Peter Green ?

starlord

That would give it all away, Major D :-)
Sorry Lady C... it isn't.
Still too early for clues :-)

ulangariver

Good morning starlord, lady c, MajorDon & all starlord fans. This one has got me puzzled.

ladycharnley

is it gary moore ?

MajorDon

I looking forward to the answer from our 'backgrounds' expert.

starlord

Morning Major D. You could have given one clue like: it's a man :-)
That would eliminate 50% of the names instantly

MajorDon

Hello everyone - no clues Donald here - got told off yesterday :)
Hope all is well across the globe today

starlord

It might be, but it isn't :-(

ladycharnley

Might it be John Hiatt ?

starlord

Morning Lady C... Grey and cool here. Glad that the high temperature is gone :-)

ladycharnley

Good morning Starlord and Starlord fans (and the Do You Remember gang) another glorious one (day that is). As for the puzzle ....... let us engage the little grey cells, oui ?
