Hello Su. A very busy gardening season amongst other things has kept me away from Jigidi for far too long and on my return I am so very sorry to read of your awful accident. It is good to know that you are making progress in your recovery all be it very slowly. My thoughts are with you. Very Best Wishes. Gwen.

octomom

That was a great video, Barb. The song was most annoying, but actually grew on me...

Su, thinking of you and wishing you a continued recovery.

gabecyr

Swinging by as I pack for the last chapter of my dental adventure in Costa Rica. Still sending you good energy, Froggy. I think it's nothing short of amazing how you have gathered this group of us from around the world who check in on you, knowing you are pretty special. You have given us fun and something in common..... Looking forward to your getting back to creating those puzzles, no matter how long we have to wait!

ringleader

Don't want you to think I've forgotten about you, Su. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Gentle (((HUGS)))

Surreal_Heidi

I hope that we haven't heard from you in some time* because you're getting plenty of good quality rest and healing, dear Froggy Su. No matter how frustrating, you need to follow Doc's instructions if you want to get completely well. You need to be extra careful.

The last time I broke my leg, I was told that I wasn't allowed to use crutches.... only a wheelchair or a zimmer, for a full month. Within 24 hours of getting home from the hospital, I fell using the zimmer and broke my tailbone. Do you know how uncomfortable it is to sit in a wheelchair with a broken tailbone? Donut pillows don't help much.

* 1 week

gemstone

I beat you by one, Kirsten...fourteen hundred million and oneth time! :)))

RandomWorship

Just letting you know that I'm checking in for the fourteen hundred millionth* time since I last commented!! Which means I'm thinking of you. Lots!!! Hope your recovery is still progressing Su. :)))

* Okay. I may have exaggerated slightly. But only slightly. LOL

vleugelmoer

hi su, big hugs and kisses from me and my girls!!!

gabecyr

LOVED the froggy Happy Dance, Barb.....bet our Froggy does too....hope it wasn't too much of a temptation for her to start dancing too soon! At the very least, great healing music.

BarbH

I can only echo what everyone else has said. We have missed you, thanks to Malcolm for the updates, welcome back but take things slowly. I tried to come back too soon from my broken ankle and had a set back, so I know that with your break, it must be a slow recovery. But soon you will heal and be happy dancing with your friends.

Hooknstitch

Everyone has expressed what I also feel and wished to say. I will repeat and old phrase. "inch by inch, everything's a cinch", keep at it. SLOWLY! Sometimes progress moves at a snails pace when we wish to take off like a rabbit! Hang in there, post updates when you can. - Ada

bookish

Su, it's wonderful to have you back, albeit a short visit. So happy you're on the mend. Take care and don't overdo. :)))

octomom

If you knew Su-zy like we knew Su-zy,
Oh, oh, oh what a gal....

juneshone

Hurray, hurray, I feel a song coming on I am so happy that you are a stage better

If you knew Froggy Su
Then you'd know why we felt blue
Without Froggy, our Froggy Su
We all love you gal
Love our Froggy Su

I feel a tune can be conjured up to go with the words. June

octomom

It's so wonderful to have you back, even if it is in short bursts, Su. I can't imagine the hell you're going through, and how frustrating it must be to remain immobile for such long periods. Even though you're only doing little things and having minor accomplishments, just remember one thing ~ any plus in a storm. It will add up to a total recovery. HWMNBI is doing a splendid job caring for his temporarily invalid wife. Give him my regards. I'd say DON'T OVERDO IT, but everyone else has said it for me.

Surreal_Heidi

So glad to hear of your progress, Froggy / Su. It's gonna be a loooooong recovery, so please try to continue with the patience. It's hard to believe that something that takes a split second to happen can take months to fix. I'm sending all the good mojo that I can to you, so that the pain eases up soon. Very soon.

RandomWorship

It's soooo good to hear from you Su, and to know that things have improved. YAY!!! I'm sure you wish it was faster, but hey. It's in the right direction!! And that's all that matters. Big smiles here. :DDD

feistyfreddy

Woo hoo! Doing happy hand stands and cartwheels on your behalf and scaring the hell out of the neighbours by showing my nether garments! ( what the hell, at least they're clean!!) Just let me know when you are ready for a Zimmer frame race and I'll be up the M6 licketysplit. You can get Froggy to run on your behalf and I'll put forward Casanova Growly Bear! Winner's sponsor gets sloe gin truffles !
I'll write you proper tomorrow. Just so glad you are up and occasionally about. M must be taking real good care of you. Tell him Freddy sends one of those dog type greetings that always embarrasses men....he'll know what I mean! ;-)) Happy hugs x

stacker

Yippeeeee! Sending more good thoughts your way!

BarbaraL

Welcome back, so lovely to hear you are improving, sorry it is so slow, take care of yourself.

JiggyBelle

As all of us "mother hens" tell you, DON'T OVERDO IT!!!!
So thrilled that you are able to get around. Lying flat must have been torturous! We are sending all sorts of good wishes for a continued, incremental, recovery!! Hugs and love to you, Su!!

pdevredis

Hip, hip, hooray! I'm so glad to hear that your recovery is coming along! Please don't overdo--we want you back healthy, hale, and hearty, so don't rush things! :-))))))

gabecyr

I second the wishes below! ....and add that continued healing wishes and energy will continue from my section of 'across the pond'. Sooooo good to hear your 'voice'...can't keep a good froggy down!

tigress

Absolutely fabulous to hear from you, Su. You've been in our thoughts so much. How wonderful that you are able to get up even if only for a short time. And so good of you to post and give us an update. So, take care, obey the doctors' orders and keep getting stronger day by day. Sending a big hug your way. (((HUG)))

ladywil

So nice to hear from you. Really miss your puzzles, but they will come again.
Please be very careful and don't overdo it. You don't want your head to fall off and scare M.
Even though it will be still a long procedure, it feels already better for you that you can sit and walk a bit...sorry M...no vacuuming yet. Take care and hope you will keep us posted once in a while.

ringleader

Su, I'm so happy I'm crying. I've been sending multiple prayers throughout each day. Bless you. Be careful and make sure there is no sand on the floor. (((HUGS)))

gemstone

WOW! Great surprise this morning...Froglet is up and about...YIPPEE!!! Glad you were able to pop in for a short message...and glad you are recognizing your limits. Hope the healing starts to speed up now that you are "over the hump". Take care and blessings all 'round. :)))

buckeye425

Hooray! I'm SO glad you can get up and around for very short periods Su!!!! We've kept sending good thoughts your way and now you're on your way back. Thank you ever so much for posting a message. It's SUCH a huge relief to know you're getting better. I so hope progress is quicker now that you can move around a bit. Send Malcolm in here any time you want to spend those precious moments doing other things. He's a gem!

Trouble_and_Frog

Hi everyone from "she- who-had-better-not-be-ignored-or-else" . . . lol
Yes, 'tis me. Little did I know when I posted my avatar and this puzzle some 6 or 7 weeks ago that it would turn out to be somewhat prophetic . . . me, flat on my back staring at the ceiling (note to 'M' . . . must get Polyfilla) after my 'trip' and all that . . . :D).

First things first . . . thank you all so much for your messages, (((HUGS))), thoughts, prayers and anything else that you sent my way. I would love to reply to you all individually but I am sorry that this is not posssible at the moment. I really appreciate your kindness and support. I feel so lucky to have met so many fantastic friends on Jigidi . . . you are all so special.

Quick update re the dreaded brace . . . I am still in a 'hard brace' which restricts movement of my head and neck but the back piece has now been replaced by a slightly smaller section so is marginally more comfortable. Although much of my time is still spent flat on my back I am now building up strength and can now sit (supported) for up to 20-30 mins at a time and am allowed to move around the house (ground floor only) with the aid of a zimmer (walking) frame for a few minutes at a time . . . YIPPEEEEE!!! . . . no more log-rolls.

I have so much more to say but I am afraid that I have exceeded my 'sitting up time' and am beginning to feel it so had better tootle off before 'he-who-thinks-my-head-is-going-to-fall-off-every-time-I-move' starts nagging . . . :D)

TTFN . . . love you all . . . xx

octomom

I'm hoping no news is good news, but I'm not so sure in this situation. Su, I'm pulling for you. You as well, HWMBI.

gabecyr

Yup, me too! still sending as much good thoughts and healing energies as I can muster. You two deserve it!

gemstone

We're still here! :D

justjoan

Just peeking in to see if there are any new updates. No news is good news, right?
We may have to rein in June a little bit. Giggle. Hope things are getting better. Take care of yourselves.

gemstone

Ditto...to what Kirsten and June said. :)))

RandomWorship

Still thinking about you Su, and hoping that things are going well. And that you are coping too, Malcolm. :)))

juneshone

sorry.............I think about Su several times in the day and I would love to hear something positive, but such things take time and it's just as well that they are so thorough. Blessings to you both.

lelabugosi

JUNEEE!!!!!!..............

tigress

Just checking to see if there were any updates. Thinking of you, Su, and you too, Malcolm. :-)

gemstone

Better get well quickly, Su...it looks like June's on the "loose"... :DDD

Heidihopes

I'm still here too Su (froggie) checking in to see how you are doing. Hope it helps to know that people are thinking of you all the way across the planet!

RandomWorship

Just swinging by, to let you know that I'm thinking of you, Su. I drop into this puzzle a couple of times a day to see if there's any news. But no pressure Malcolm. You've got a lot to look after there. And that's your number one priority. I hope things are progressing. Even if only incrementally - that would at least be in the right direction. :)))

ringleader

Su, dear, this is the time of day I miss you the most. I think of you often and wish I could be there to be helpful. My prayers are with you continually. I would say keep your chin up but there's not much else you can do. It's being held rigidly in place. Remember you are cared about and dearly loved. Very gentle (((HUGS)))

gemstone

"You are always on my mind"...Elvis version...not Willie Nelson! :)))

bookish

Thanks for the update, hwmbi. You're also in my thoughts, Su. :-)

gemstone

And just checking in now to let you know you're on my mind...

juneshone

Thanks for the update Malcolm. Just a line to say I think of you both every day and hope all is as well as it can be given the circumstances

RandomWorship

Hi Malcolm and Su! I just wanted to say thanks for the update. And I'm sorry about the old clapper (car!), and that Su's recovery is being so slow and painful. But you sound like a handy kind of a bloke, and I'm sure you'll have that vito whipped into shape in no time.

Su, I wish there was something I could do of a practical nature to help. I bet you'd love a distraction from the boredom and the pain right now. If thoughts could help, I'd be kicking goals for you. 'Cos I think about you a lot.

And Malcolm, I don't think you need to apologise. You guys are living with all of this, and trying to work through it. You need to do, whatever you need to do, to look after Su and yourself. But we'll appreciate any little tidbit of news you can throw our way. Because we care. Thanks for the update. :)))

octomom

I appreciate so much the update, he-who-must-be-tolerated. I wish you both the best in overcoming your pain and car troubles, whatever in the world a "mot" may be, or a "duff indicator bulb". If wishes were horses... In the future, a simple "hey, we're still alive and kicking or trying to kick" will suffice to let us know you're both hanging in there. Thanks again, and wishing the heavens part and the sun comes out for both of you.

wilddog

Thank you for the update Malcolm. Even though I only know Su through her puzzles through jigidi I still consider her a friend and wish her the best in a speedy recovery. Karen from central Illinois.

buckeye425

Well, goodness gracious! I'm still sending good thoughts your way and hoping both your lives get better soon. I think you both need a large gin and tonic! Seriously, thank you ever so much Malcolm for giving the update.

ladywil

Malcolm, Malcolm, Everything seems to come together. Car trouble are the pits. I also don't understand all your technical stuff, but I am sure you can fix it.
Poor Su. I am sure she would like to make her puzzles. Can't you make her something, like a slanted table?? You seem like a handy man...There must be a solution for her. She is going to get withdrawal symptoms and then you are really stuck.
Take care both of you and keep us posted.

ringleader

Thank you, Malcolm. Even bad news is better than no news. Hope you can conquer the problems with the car although I don't understand a word of what you said. LOL Please let Su know that I love her and pray for her healing and for her to keep her courage up and for you to have the energy and knowledge to take care of both of you. Thanks for the update. Very, very gentle (((HUGS))) for Su.

tigress

Really appreciate hearing from you, Malcolm. Sorry for all the car troubles but more sorry that Su seems to be in limbo at the moment and not too comfortable by the sounds of it. The waiting is the hardest part and having to wait 10 days or so for a CT scan seems unbelievable. Please let her know we are all thinking of her and wishing only the best. Thanks again for keeping us posted. :-)

gemstone

I think we all realized it was going to be slow going for Su but still need a "little" word now and then...thank you, Malcolm, for keeping us "in the loop". And good luck to both of you on the "repairs"...hope the pain eases soon. Blessings.

Trouble_and_Frog

he-who-must-have-his-botty-smacked

I promised to keep you informed...... and I haven't

SORRY

not a lot to report really, but it's been extremely busy.

ok I got her home with an exploded clutch....... I drive a mercedes vito, a minibus type vehicle with most of its seating ripped out to produce something we both like (after my first 14yrs driving a landrover I was never really happy in the luxury cars I had to buy when working for someone).... I like the size and high driving position, su finds it easier to get in and out of than a car and a lot more comfortable (its certainly more luxurious than most cars) and more comfortable seating.... and with our limited income and limited health, its much easier to maintain than a car.

unfortuntely the clutch hydraulics gave up whilst visiting the hospital and the clutch proptly exploded whilst bringing her home..... an expense we could well do without... as soon as this was fixed, it was mot'd and failed....... only a duff indicator bulb and duff main beam indicator (both of which worked when it was dropped at the mot station) and the parking brake wasn't working on one wheel (this we knew) but nothing else, unexpected..... which was good news.

I had intended swapping the running gear (front bearings and joints / shafts and rear subframes with springs, shocks and bearings / brakes etc.

this might seem odd but the vito used to be a taxi type vehicle and expected to need new bearings and brakes, whilst my old vito had just been rebuilt when the battery froze, split and ate through the floor and chassis..... so it was a logical thing to do and not a lot of work for most people.

it was going to be done the week su selfishly broke her neck (wouldn't have happened if she hadn't ducked the brick I threw at her) but everything conspired to make it impossible and turn it into a much bigger and longer job (for me).

anyway, it's half done now but it's been using up every "fit" moment and seeing to su and doctors etc took up the rest..... the majority of which was taken up recovering from doing the work, on the basis of an hours work and 6 hrs recovery until the next work period.

so, enough about why I haven't been updating but I hope you'll understand (now)

su is in limbo..... she is still in bed, propped up so she can't turn onto her side... wearing a rigid neck brace so she can't move her head and finding it extremely difficult to eat and drink whilst wearing the brace and in such pain.

the worst bit is that she is finding it very hard to use the computer or read the monitor.... so I apologise that she hasn't read anything since coming home.

su is extremely frustrated about not being online at the moment, as she used to be online or constructing puzzles for 12 to 14hrs a day..... she will be back but I cannot give a time-span.

we are waiting for the follow up cat scan.... it should be in about 10days but we've heard nothing yet..... and until then, we are completely in the dark about what's happening, when.

if there is any news, I WILL post it.... but please be patient with me

he-who-must-be-ignored

octomom

We're all waiting with bated breaths for an update ... please?

bookish

Malcolm, I took the liberty of sending Su a card via your e-mail address. Letting you know that 'Fran Smith's e-mail is from me.
...Francine

bookish

Su, I have just been reading Malcolm's comments. OMG!!! So, so sorry for you. All the best to you. :)

aggie

Hopping in to say hope you are getting better...take care to the two of you.

sag1220

still thinking about you and how you are doing.

feistyfreddy

And me and the gang! :-))

RandomWorship

Me too. :)

gemstone

Stilllll...

gemstone

Still thinkin' about ya'!

ringleader

Su, you are in my thoughts and prayers often during the day. This is about the time you would usually post. Seemed a good time to come say "hi" and I miss you a lot. Be ever so careful, please and don't give Malcolm a hard time. Very, very gentle (((HUGS))) Maybe you could convince he-who-must-be-ignored to give us a word now and then.

gemstone

Just thinkin' about ya... :D

juneshone

just to say that you are both often in my thoughts, big hugs for Malcom and a gentle pat for Su

RandomWorship

Just swinging by to say hello, Su and Malcolm. I hope all is well. :)))

tigress

Thinking of you, Su, and you too, Malcolm. Just wondered how things are going? :-)

gemstone

You'd better get well fast, Froglet...sounds like Growly will be ready to party very soon! :)

feistyfreddy

Hi Sue and HWMBI from sunny Espana. Sooo glad you are back in the nest. Now, best behaviour Sue and don't go giving the un-hired help grief! You've been much in my thoughts and I am raising a glass of Rioja in the general direction of "oop north". Hasta pronto, gentle virtual hugs from me, BB and the travelling bear. :-)

RandomWorship

I popped in too, to see how you're both going. Hope all is progressing, even if just incrementally. Know that I'm thinking of you Su. :))) And you too, he-who-must-be-ignored-who-is-not-being-ignored-at-all-here-in-fact-is-quite-the-centre-of-attention!!!! LOL

ladywil

No news is good news?

gabecyr

Yup....even just "No change here, just muddling along"..... (you can just copy and paste that if it's true....to save time.)

Keeping you in our good wishes and prayers.... hoping you are finding things to amuse you.

ringleader

How is it going at home? Even the shortest update would be appreciated. Love and lots of prayers and very, very gentle (((HUGS)))

juneshone

Hi Su and Malcolm, that is such good news but don't refuse to go back in if you think it is needed. Can you not go for tests to a closer hospital. I know we all like to go to Blackpool, but there is a limit. It's such a blessing that you both get on so well and have a sense of humour, it could have all been so different else. hugs to both and hope you enjoy being in your own castle.

Amazonia1805

Hey there Froglet + Malcolm. Hope you are going to be a good girl + not allow frustration to sabotage your sensibility! You've got to be like the tortoise this time sugar, slow and steady wins the race. Now, for some, this would be easy - but knowing you, I'm thinking right now you're feeling like your a Ferrari trying to drive down a muddy country lane.

When faced with problems, I always think of this by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, (who also wrote "Solitude" 'Laugh, and the world laughs with you...') -

It is easy enough to be pleasant,
When life flows by like a song.
But the man worth while is the one who can smile,
when everything goes dead wrong.
For the test of the heart is trouble,
And it always comes with the years.
And the smile that is worth the praises of earth
is the smile that shines through tears.

Thinking of you + he-who-must-be-ignored, (bless you 2 Malcolm - your a gud-un!) Rea. xxx ; )

Hooknstitch

hip hip hooooooorayyyyyy! home again home again but no jigidi jigs. Not yet, none of the dancing kind of jigs. Jigidi is perfectly OK.

Wow, I just found this puzzle, and read the full story. Thanks T&F for all the puzzles you've made in the past, and thanks, Malcolm for the updates.

ladywil

That is good to hear that she is home. But she is not out of the woods, yet. Please tell her to be very careful, because those bones in the neck cannot move at all!! Hope her neckbrace keeps them stable. I am surprised that they did not put in steel pins, like they did with my friend. When she fell down, went to the hospital and after several tests etc. she was on the operating table. Take care Su and take it easy.
And of course the same for Malcolm and thanks for those regular updates.

JiggyBelle

Trouble - it is so wonderful that you get to be back home with Malcolm. He's been an angel giving us updates with such humor.
Now - you have a lot of challenges - and they are so much easier to face at home. But, don't forget, you have to have patience and take it a step at a time. You certainly didn't need any of this to happen to you at all. But, it did and you will get back to whatever passes as normal eventually. We are all thinking of you and pulling for you and now cheering that you've returned to your own space. Please take the best care of yourself possible. Jiggy :D))))))))

ringleader

So glad you're home. Be more than careful, please. We love you and want you back. When you're up to it I sent a card email last night. Also much later I'll show you where I found Froggy while you were elsewise occupied!!! I do wish the pain could be eased. If I'm wishing I'd wish it had never happened at all. But it did. Many thoughts and prayers have come from me and will continue.. Here are a few very, very gentle (((HUGS))).

RandomWorship

Woo hoo!! Froggy hopped home. You can't keep a good frog down, huh? Yippee!! :)))

But seriously, I'm very sorry for your pain and discomfort Su. I hope the drugs will help, and that you'll be a good Froggy and take all the medical advice and services you can get. Try to not be too obstinate. We wuv our widdle fwoggy, and want her to have a full and fast recovery! :)))

Thanks again for the update, Malcolm, You're a gem. :)))

octomom

I'm so relieved to know Trouble is home at last. Here's a thought about making her more comfortable: Here's a link to a number of adjustable computer trays that slide under couches:

http://www.nextag.com/slide-in-sofa-table/products-html

Also, you might consider an adjustable hospital tray table:

http://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Rolling-Hospital-Laptop-Table/dp/B009HF3V5A

One of these might make Su more comfortable, since we all know she's going to insist, most likely sooner rather than later, on feeding her Jigidi addiction. At the very least, if you're going to enable her, she might as well be comfy.

gabecyr

A GIANT but gentle leap forward, Froggy!!! great to hear. I agree, hospitals are no place to get better.

tigress

Amazing! Thanks for the update, Malcolm. Here's hoping this is a step forward in the recovery process. Su, thinking of you and wishing you well. :-)

gemstone

Glad everyone is safely home (well maybe not the car)! Lots of love, rest, and recuperating...but NO vacuuming! :DDD

wilddog

I'm glad that she back home safe. I know how she feels about hospitals. Whenever I have to be admitted to one I want to leave as soon as possible. Continue taking good care of her. We miss her and hope she recovers soon.

Trouble_and_Frog

SHE'S HOME

in a big full neck and back brace and a LOT of pain.......... but in her own chair.

I picked her up this afternoon, just in time for the clutch to go (again) and 30miles home in 3rd gear and avoiding stopping....... hi ho !!

yes she does get her jigidi comments and her email........ HOWEVER as it is very difficult for her to use the home setup (the hospital one could be easily positioned to read but impossible to type on) it will be at least a few days before she can get around to it.

the saga is far from over as the consultant wants her back for another cat scan and he's very worried about her leaving hospital.... however other circumstances make staying in hospital, even in a side room, extremely problematic and not conducive to her wellbeing...... so, armed with a carrier bag of drugs and an obstinate streak wider than the humber estuary (she am from grimsby) we will do our best.

he-who-must-be-ignored

ladywil

I am happy to see that Su is improving. Is she allowed to type or use a tablet, or is that still too dangerous.
Malcolm, at your next visit, bring a hairpin and try to open the lock, so that you can reset the machine yrself. :)
Say hi to Su.

justjoan

Oh, wow! I just popped on looking for the latest puzzle and saw all this. So sorry. You'll both be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Joan

juneshone

Hi Octy I suppose you would need to do so often because of the cat hair

octomom

Su, you'd better behave and do what the doctors and nurses (and especially your little dove) say, or else we'll have Malcolm breathing down our necks and bitterly complaining about your trying to vacuum. Remember: once every three months is more than enough...

Heidihopes

Wow Su, can't believe what's been going on with you. I've been out on a trip of my own and came back to read this news about you. So sorry to hear about your accident. It's very considerate of you to keep us updated. I feel like we're friends, though we have never met. I'll keep you in prayer and my thoughts. Sounds like you have a very supportive husband who is a hoot to boot, haha. (translation: who also has a great sense of humor which always helps). One of my best friends broke his neck a few years ago and it was a long haul but has fully recovered so I know you will too! Keep thinking positive and take each day as it comes. Looking forward to whatever updating you can do. Take care!

BarbaraL

Thank you for keeping us informed Malcolm, keep up the good work Su, sorry it will take so long, but we look forward to you coming back to us, you have to, I haven't solved one of your puzzles yet, take care.

RandomWorship

Oh, you're a scallywag, you are Maelcoluim!!! And who said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Look at you, with your dish washin', your vacin' and your clothes washin'! LOL By the time Su's recovered - you'll be good at it! (hope you don't mind me having a gentle prod. You seem to be the kind of bloke who likes a bit of thrust and parry!)

Anyhoo, it's fabulous to hear that despite the best efforts of hopeless nurses and (anti) communication equipment, Su is still improving. Yippee!!! Go, Su!! :))))

And re that (anti) communication equipment, I'm gobsmacked that it includes the phone and alarm. It's one thing to not be able to watch a movie. Quite another to not be able to call for medical attention when you need it. That's a terrible state of affairs - that the hospitals have outsourced things to that degree. Grrrrrr.

Thanks for the update, Mr Froggy. We very much appreciate it. Love to Su, and many thanks to you. :)))

Trouble_and_Frog

he-who-must-be-ignored here

firstly a thanks to everyone and for the comments about me..........

no I am not really stressed about what the silly c** did... its just damned inconsiderate........ I had saved her the washing up that she abandoned when she went on holiday but I had to do it myself as the mould was nearly 3inches high.

I disproved this "housework" myth, I did the vacuuming in the same way she does.... do not move anything and just go around it and don't vacuum more than once every 3 months (its not due yet)

as for this washing machine..... it happily takes all my washing, so why does she keep putting it in separate loads????

At least I learnt to cook when I was "on the road"... it saves getting food poisoning and I don't have to worry about the mushrooms (he died of a brain injury... how?... he got hit with a brick..... how did that happen?.... he wouldn't eat the "mushrooms")

thanks for the stab at my name... it's malcolm... properly spelt maelcoluim and literally means "bald dove" and refers to the followers of st columba.. the guy who brought christianity here.... so "follower of the dove" is a reasonable translation........... when younger (and now for that matter) most people assume I'm named after Malcolm Campbell, the speed nutter, however mine is a family name that goes back eldest son to eldest son to the 9th century, I'm eldest son of 2nd son as my uncle didn't have a boy... so here it ends..... ahhhhhhhhhh!

the important stuff

su is getting betterer every day.... she had physio visits and its still very difficult..... she was measured again for a "proper" collar, hopefully it will be sorted out one day.

sitting up is still difficult and painful but hopefully that will improve

this is going to be a long "do" but hopefully she will be able to come home soon and recover here (even though she will never do what she's told).... I certainly won't miss the several hours driving every day.

THE MACHINE WORKS!!!!!
yes the tv / internet / phone man called.... he unlocked the box and pressed reset.... and sfter 48hrs it worked again

su has read the comments and was highly amused and grateful to you all

but this tv malarky brought up a concern.........

Why should ANYBODY in hospital be denied entertainment or communication just because the reset button is on the inside of a locked box?

you are totally cut off, not able to contact friends or family, because there is no simple button..... you can't use the old "telephone on wheels" that all wards had... because they were disposed of when these hospedia units were installed...... and it is plainly wrong to expect nurses to be message carriers.

maybe someone should have a look at this,

bye for now

thanks for the update Malcolm (it means follower of the dove that's why you are so peaceful lol) Sounds like just another day in the British Health Service, seems nothing has changed in the last six years since I escaped. I hope Su will soon be transferred closer to home it might make life a bit easier. Hugs to you both and better news soon.

gemstone

Thinking of you. :)))

It's all been said...except:

GO, TEAM, GO!!! Kick butt!

I've been checking regularly for the updates and must say thanks to Malcolm. Su, thinking of you and sending only good wishes your way. Hope things get sorted out and they soon get you on the road to recovery. Also hoping all the good wishes from the members of Jigidi go a long way to cheering you up. :-)

ringleader

To Su - Dear Su, you are constantly on my mind and in my prayers. I'm delighted to hear of your feistiness with that excuse for a nurse. I hope your so called entertainment company got on the ball. Just want you to know I care so much. Here are some extremely gentle (((HUGS))).

To he-who-must-be-ignored - Thank you for keeping us updated. Take care of you. The anxiety and stress you have is as severe as is Su's. My thoughts and prayers go out to both of you. Do you think she would mind if I left a little hug for you? (hug)

octomom

Oh my, Su, I just found out the horrible news. My heart goes out to you. Seems some people will do about anything for attention... Seriously, make sure your voices are heard so you can get good care. Use your gut instincts to know what is right, and stand by it, like you already have. Has he-who-must-be-ignored considered going to all the news media outlets and having them do a story about the situation? That's the fastest way I can think of to get some action. Bad publicity always elicits a response.

Mr. he-who-should-be-ignored, you have a superb sense of humor and irony, but underneath it all, I can feel the stress and dread over the entire matter. Humor can go a long way to easing worries.

Su, I wish you a speedy recovery, and hope surgery isn't warranted. You are so beloved here on Jigidi. We'll all miss you very much. Keep your chin up (!), don't get all bent out of shape over the nurses (!), and keep a stiff upper lip over the whole sorry affair (!). Octo-Gail from New York City, then Oregon, and now Florida, and her gang of five truant felines.

RandomWorship

Oh my goodness, Mr Froggy! Is that hospital called Fawlty Towers? That's terrible. And the work of the "entertainment centre" people would be laughable, if it wasn't so serious. Despite nearly having a demarcation dispute with the nurse, I'm glad you're on the job. Sic 'em!

I'm not on social media - Jigidi is it for me - but for all of those of you who are, you might want to consider a tweet or facebook comment to Hospedia about their lack of service:
Twitter: @Hospedia
https://www.facebook.com/HospediaLtd

Social media can be a powerful tool!

Love to Su. Hope she can sit up again some time soon. And be able to watch something when she does. :)))

Trouble_and_Frog

he-who-must-be-ignored here with good and bad nooos.

physio finally got to her and she managed to sit in a chair for a short while...... it was then that she realised how serious it was and how difficult it was and how much pain

still, she got to look at a wall instead of the ceiling....... even if it was for a few minutes.

Su met the nurse from hell (on special assignment from't agency)... nice(ish) person but a real bossyboots who knew everything and could do nothing (that's my job)

firstly she decided to put the neckbrace on backwards.... then upside down.... su told her to s#d off as she didn't trust her (the trainee really enjoyed the floorshow)........ crowning glory of stupidity was "ok I'll do it your way" (su's way)....."now lift your head so I can get to it"...... what part of broken neck didn't she understand????????

that was the good bit...... now the not so.....

Su watched the italian job on the hospedia.co.uk "entertainment centre" (tv, film, internet, phone, radio)..... not a lot of people know that !!!!!!.

she enjoyed mr micklewhite and relaxed....... following the credits was not so good....

no sooner had the film ended, than the entire system (in her room) went on strike..... no anything including no phone........ not even the button you need to press to report a problem, which cannot have happened as there was no way of telling anybody...... (if a tree falls over in the forest and nobody is there to hear it.... does it make a sound????)

the hospital staff simply said it's not their responsibility as it's a private contract..... helpful!!!

when I found out, I contacted hospedia.co.uk and "someone will see to it"

when I got home after visiting (just after 9pm) I called again........ I'll log it now..... now..... NOW.... what happened to this afternoon and they'll see to it.

I'll check...................................... oh yes, he'll be in the area sometime on monday...........

MONDAY............. I hung up (I'm too polite and genteel to swear).... no I r#ddy well f#c#**g well aren't...... wait till monday.

I've a good mind to tell everyone that su mill is in hospital in blackpool and that they are hospedia.co.uk on an 0845 number.

but I'm not really like that..................... am I ???????

juneshone

thanks for letting us know about Su Malcolm. I know it all seems a bit long winded but I'm sure they are doing their best not to make things worse. glad she can now see a different corner it must have been horrendous just lying in one position. Hopefully things will get a little better every day. I so agree about hospital clutter, though when I was in I couldn't have managed without sending texts back home with my daily requirements. Flowers are banned in my house too. . Keep hospitals clean and free from stuff we don't need. Ice cream is alright though

tigress

Thanks so much for the update, Malcolm ... really appreciate any news you can let us have, and totally understand the restriction re cards, calls etc.
Su, I can't really say it any better than Kirsten. Thinking of you and hoping things start to move faster than the snail's pace. Miss you. (((hugs))) :-)

gabecyr

What Kirsten said.....we are watching .... caring....and so commiserating!

RandomWorship

Thanks for the update he-who-must-be-ignored! It's good news - because at least it's in the right direction. I'm sure things are moving much more slowly than either of you would like though. But as long as it's forward - that's good. And I also understand your view on direct contact, and address details and the like. That's perfectly reasonable. We'll just have to keep pouring out our love and concern on this page. I hope you can keep popping back to give us updates, as things progress.

And now that I know Su can read this - I want to say hello Su! You big duffer! Geez, when you take a fall, you don't muck around do you? One could nearly accuse you of being a big attention-seeker! LOL But seriously, I hope your improvement speed picks up, and that you can be moved closer to home soon. I wish there was something more practical I could do for you. I guess all I can do is send you my best thoughts for a speedy and complete recovery. And let you know that I'm thinking of you. A lot. And speaking of speeding up, I hope the internet speed picks up there too. Not so you can post puzzles. Just so you can do interesting things, and communicate with the world. When you're able to sit up and move that is. You poor thing. You must be dying of frustration!! I know I would be. I want to say take care, but I know that is silly under the circumstances. So chin up? No. That's worse. I guess I mean, be patient. Heal fast. And we look forward to your return - whole and healthy. :)))

Love,
Kirsten
xoxoxo

Trouble_and_Frog

he-who-must-be-ignored forgot to say something.

I will not be giving hospital details, even though there have been several requests (cos I'm like that)

the hospital has a strict no mobiles, no flowers, no plants, no cards rule..... and its all enforced... something we both agree with.

I really couldn't believe that with all the "keep it clean" campaigns, I watched numerous people carry in pot plants..... they would all leave with them after a couple of minutes and return empty handed........... people cover themselves in that anti-bacterial gunk and then carry a plant in a pot full of soil.... logical?????

I won't give the phone or ward number either........

I know you all mean well and your comments on here are truly appreciated..... but..... people say "it's only a short call" or "it's only the once" and the "short" calls from lots of "only once" callers adds up to the poor nurses continually answering the phone and not doing their work..... and then being moaned at by patients and relatives.

there.................. I've said it.

love your comments and good wishes.......... but only on here

the wife will be reading them herself on a regular basis

thanks for understanding

Trouble_and_Frog

it's he-who-must-be-ignored here.... with an update

they finally started doing something!!!!!

well, someone turned up with a temporary neckbrace (she's still immobilised) to make her a little more comfortable.

this neckbrace takes some of the strain, whilst still severely restricting any movement......... the upshot is that there is a little less pain whilst making it even more difficult to eat or drink.

at least the bed can now be at a shallow angle, which is a little more comfortable and enables her to use the "in house" entertainment system.... tv, telephone and internet (although so slow and restrictive as to be of little use)........ but at least her view is no longer purely of the ceiling above her face..... now she can even see the join between wall and ceiling on the other side of the room.

the surgeons in preston have decided not to operate at the moment but to see if the fracture either improves or deteriorates over the next couple of months..... hopefully they can still get left-hand thread screws to re-attach it if her head starts rolling around the floor.

the proper neckbrace has still not arrived.... the current one is a "temporary" fix.. its just a little worrying trying to work out the nhs meaning of "temporary"...... we are told that when the "proper" brace is fitted, they will try to get her "up" for short periods.... and see if the fracture is "stable" or starts to deteriorate.

we'll just have to wait and see........

thanks to Ardy and Hester etc for the emails... and everybody for the goodwill comments on here........

as I said earlier, she can now watch tv and use the internet from her bed........... don't get your hopes up, its a terrible keyboard and cursor (not a mouse or joystick) which allows her to retrieve messages (she read this lot today) but she cannot post anything, so new puzzles are somewhere in the future.......

we know it's going to be a very long journey........ but at least it has now started moving, albeit at a pace that makes a tortoise look supersonic.

again, thanks for the good wishes... they are greatly appreciated.

Mr Trouble_and_Frog (aka he-who-should-be-ignored),
Thank you ever so much for letting us all know of the Frogletts misadventures! Wishing the MDs knock their heads together, come up with a proper diagnosis, and send Su down the road to recovery and health toot-sweet! Libby and the Fur Kids from NC (USA) sending loving and healing energy your way! ;-)))

grannygoatlady

Now that's really a rotten way to end what was probably a really great vacation....Mr. Trouble_and_Frog please take care of the Missus and tell her all of Jiggidi wish her a quick recovery and the very best....
Glenda

ladywil

Just read the bad news. A broken neck probably.....that is really bad. But I have a friend who also had a broken neck...They put steel pins in it...she had lots of therapy and she is back to her old self again.
I wish Su all the best and will think of her.
I hope that Malcolm will keep us posted on how she is doing.
Thanks

pdevredis

I'm so, so sorry to hear the news! Please let Su know that Pat is thinking about her and wishing her well, as are all her hundreds of friends and fans here!

gabecyr

OMG...I just got back from a road adventure with my grandson to this news! I count myself lucky, I tell you! ...mend well and mend fast, Su. We are all gathered round that boring bed of yours in spirit! Gabe in Washington state, USA

lelabugosi

Sorry to hear the news, Mr.He-who-should-be-ignored........please give Su our best wishes for a quick and successful recuperation - The Bugosis.

cakes1947

I'm so sorry Su had such a terrible accident. Though I don't know her, Jigidi is a family & we stick together whether it's laughter or prayer. Please let her know my prayers for the best care possible is at her hand and the comfort of love from family, friends & God are there for her. Hugs ~ Joyce

buckeye425

Oh! This is horrendous news! I sure hope those good doctors at hospital figure out the real problem and get on with fixing it soon. Thanks for telling all of us Malcolm. Please give Su best wishes for a speedy recovery from buckeye Katie in Ohio, USA! I can't even imagine how hard it is for her to be immobilized. (And never stop reminding her that ALL sand is indeed loose!)

JOSIESCORNER

I ad my prayers and good wishes to those of all her many friends, I think between June, Ardy and Ada, there is nothing I can ad, my heart is breaking for you both, it is so hard on you both.

sag1220

Tell her she is in our prays for a full and speedy recovery.
Arkansas, USA

stacker

What a shock!!! Please know I will be thinking good thoughts and saying prayers for a speedy and complete recovery. Hang in there and take care of yourself.

sewandsew

Oh that news is horrid!!! OMG. My thoughts are with her and of course you as well Malcom - hoping the two of you will keep your spirits up. Please find a way to give her a hug, [not too tight!] from all of us on Jigidi. As I have read here she will be missed by many. Keep us informed of her condition/injuries, please! - Ada from Florida USA.

feistyfreddy

Malcolm, thanks for taking the trouble to keep us informed at what is obviously a lousy time for you.
You can't fool me though. I'll bet she was attempting some acrobatics on The Big One!! Looping the loop on the roller coaster without a parachute!!

Seriously though, she's all Kirsten said and more and jigiland is just not right without her and froggy. Send her love from me, Freddy and Growly. We know you'll keep her smiling. Hester

juneshone

thanks for letting us know this devastating news Malcom. If tears could help she's be better already but I'll just send hugs to her and you and those poor grandchildren who were looking forward to a holiday and now Grandma is in hospital. She's a lovely lady and has brought hours of fun to jigidi. Say Hi from Cumbria for me. June

RandomWorship

Oh, Malcolm! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You're a funny bloke, you know. But Su first. Please pass on my best wishes to her, and I hope for a speedy and complete recovery. She's a wonderful woman that wife of yours. Smart, side-splittingly funny, artistic and caring. We care about her a lot!

Now, back to you! Can you pop back? You're funny. And we like a bit of funny here. You could be deputy Froggy, while she's laid up! What say you? C'mon. Say yes. :)))

But seriously, love to Su. And thanks for letting us know, Malcolm. Please keep us in the loop. Cheers, Kirsten - Downunder.

BarbaraL

Thank you for telling us Malcolm, popular lady your wife, tell her we miss her and hope she is better very soon, Barbara down in Surrey.

gemstone

WHAT??? I warned her about trying to keep up with the grandkids.

Thank you for letting us know, Malcolm. This must be a great worry for you, too. Good thing Ardy is on the ball and has had her prayers going for three days already. Hope the doctors get their act together soon...but being immobilized certainly is the thing to do...though I bet Su is still giving them a hard time about that. Tell Su that Vancouver, Canada has checked in and is sending her all the best for a full and speedy recovery! Take care. Faye

P.S. If a hospital stay is indicated perhaps you could give us an address so that we could send a card...once things are sorted out.

JiggyBelle

Oh my! Malcolm, please tell her that Jiggy (Jan) is thinking about her and sending her great wishes and love from the States! Please update us here, too! Thanks so much!
We love you, Su!!!!

wilddog

Malcom, my thoughts and prayers are with your wife. Hopefully things will get sorted out soon. Karen from central Illinois.

tigress

Thanks so much for letting us know, Malcolm. Thoughts and prayers from Barb.

ringleader

Praying for her, Malcolm. Always do but have felt an extra need for the past two or three days. Please let her know. I'm Ardy.

Trouble_and_Frog

Not from Trouble and Frog.... from her Husband (he who should be ignored)

APOLOGIES
there will be a short delay before the missus posts another puzzle????????????????

As you know, she looked forward to a week with the grandsprogs in Blackpool.....

All was well, they did the tower, the pleasure beach especially the big one....

On Sunday they went for a walk on the beach and prom, so the youngest sprog (11) could dig some holes?????

Then they walked along the prom...... now the missus walks with a crutch..... it slipped from under her on some loose sand (isn't all sand loose???) and she went down backwards and hit the deck.

She now resides in Hospital, strapped to a bed with a suspected broken neck!!!!!!!

It happened Sunday lunchtime, she's had X-rays, CT scan and MRi and they still have done bugger all.... she's still strapped down and immobilised.

Our local Hospital in Preston refuses to transfer her as they think it's a broken neck and it's unstable.... they keep asking for more tests and sod all is done.

Personally I think she is enjoying the rest from me and it's all an act....... an elastoplast and a kiss on the forehead would have been enough in my day but I'm told I'm rotten and inhuman.

She WILL be back... it just might take a little while.
