oh darn! is that why my rice looks purple? Thanks childofgod.
Good information, childofgod. Good thing I didn't try to harvest them! Thanks. Hi, Trish, hope you read this.
to texasstar7 these are not saffron crocus, saffron crocus is grown in parts of china, india, and nepal. they are a dark purple color and the steman looks almost deep orange. they are carefuly picked by hand and seperated and laid on specialy made screens. they then are put on drying racks and when they are dried it is packaged and sent to markets.i watched the documentry on this.
go for it girl! so pretty with such a prize inside!
Thanks, Morris, I do too. They don't do so well here, probably because it isn't very cold, but I always manage to have a few in the back beds. Thanks, Nellies and Shirley, glad you stopped by. Trish, I had forgotten that that's where saffron comes from. As expensive as it is, maybe we should harvest these??
You have got to love them, poor things.
here come the saffron! here come the saffron! thanks tex!
Very beautiful photo texasstar.
Very pretty, also love crocus!!
Cute, Roseheather. Thanks, Laurajane & Warbler. One thing that makes us all love Crocus is that it is the preview of spring and hope through the snow.
My children had a book about flowers when they were little, and one part said:"Crocus, early in the spring, sometimes stand in snow poor things." As are these in the picture. ; )
So beautiful, tex!
Brrrr..ave! Beautiful too. Thanks for it.
Thank you, Silver, Bloorox and Jiggy. I love these too.
