another good post
They sure do - thanks Shirley!
I keep well away from them, they do have a nasty sting, Thanks Rob.
I don't mind them if they're out of the way pg, but I'm not too keen on them still! Thanks Dave - sounds like you had a nasty surprise!LOL!! I agree with the Raid patsquire!! My husband disturbed a nest of Paper Wasps once & they chased him down the yard & stung him about 6 times through his T-shirt!!Thanks warbler - I DO admire their colours & like looking at the fine detail - but only in photos!!
I give them space and they leave me alone. Usually. Its interesting, if this one was from say southeast asia, we'd probably all be admiring the amazing colors and there would be paper chewing jokes.
As with nature in general, though, sometimes they'll attack for reasons of their own even when you're not "bothering" them. I simply came into the back yard once, and one of them left the nest and zoomed right over to me and stung me on the hand. It hurt like fury! And then, not knowing what to do, I ran cold water over it and POOF! Magic! The pain went away as quickly as it had come. (I used my pain-free hand to pick up the can of Raid.)
I had a run in a few years ago with a nest on our RV and I think the only good wasp is a dead one.
Some of them are very quiet and will not bother you unless you start it. Paper wasps are all over the barn and they never even try to chase us. If they did they would be no more.
I can't agree with you more lyndee - the sting is so nasty & they are so quick to attack!!I'd say so aggie - must be newly laid as they're uncovered still.
Those are eggs in there I presume?
I try to love all of God's creatures, but the wasp and I just don't seem to get along very well. LOL
