Just had a look at the website 48. I wonder when that photo was taken, it looks as if it could have been just after WW2. I suspect there are still gardens at the back but whether they still grow veg or not, it might be a lawn and flower beds. Thanks for the info it was interesting looking back in time...Sue

Yes, very nice indeed. Glad to see such places are available to those that have a need and can take advantage of the opportunity the almshouses provide. I saw pictures of the Arkwright Almshouses online taken many years back that showed large garden areas where the residents could grow vegetables and such ~ wonder if that is still available to them. That would be nice.
