Oh snooker, I didn't see this until just now. Thank you for reminding me on my puzzle. No, I don't think that this is a baby mourning dove. The beak is too short and the coloring a little off. Let me check and get back to you on this. Cute little fella!
Yes she is, Jack. A sweet person. Thanks Ank - very nice looking bird.Hi P&B. Glad to have your input on this. Made me do some googling. :)
Snooker, i think it is more the way the bird is sitting and the black dots that have us "thinking" night hawk. Thanks for the additional info. Mourning dove, it is.
Laura is a wonderful person snooker!
You're welcome, Patti.Thank you, morris. :)
Nice set, Snooker! Thanks!
A night hawk has a white patch under the chin in all the photos that came up when I googled it. When I googled mourning dove baby there was a photo of a bird that looked very similar in pattern and bill shape to this one.
Annjax, I thought it was a nighthawk as soon as I saw it, then i read the comments. I vote for nighthawk.
Photo was taken in the spring or summer I believe, Ann. Good to hear from you.Suzy, such a sweet sentiment. :)
Oooops! Not 'kind' but 'time'---I didn't proofread........
Oh, pkh--- that is such a bbbbright comment! Hawhawhaw! ;-D I love it!..................My first thought was a nighthawk, but you all are probably right about a mourning dove. Not sure about a baby ANY kind of bird this kind of year, though............
Very pretty feathers on Billy Bob's baby bird. (well, how's that for alliteration???)
lj was talking about mourning doves this AM so I told her I was posting this one. My brother thought it might be a dove but wasn't sure. Any idea what the other one is?
I think so too nice pic snooker
Aw, I agree. Sure does.
Sure looks like a baby morning dove
