I learn so many new things on here. Imagine, most of them live underground. Like this one. Thx .
I lived in Coober Pedy for 4 years...and had a great time, and made friends there that will always be special. Thanks for the reminder of all the good times I had there
Remember reading about this place when I was a kid and thinking it would be a great place to see.
I'm glad you enjoyed this unique town in our outback, Gladstone, punkin and Pat. It really is a different kind life to what us city folk know.
This is so neat... thanks Chookies for posting...
The underground camping and homes looks like a wise solution to the environment.
A different way to live. You cope with your enviroment and adjust. Thanks chookies for sharing this type of life.
As you know, shirley, the heat is the main factor, that's why they build their houses underground. In fact nearly the whole town is built underground - that's why you're seeing only a small portion of homes in this picture. I see they still have a drive-in!
Thanks for the post chookies, I guess most people live there because of the work, you would have too love the work though, I don't think I could take the heat.
It may be desolate, soda, but it's a very wealthy town but the temperatures can be extreme all year round with tourist flocking, not only to view this unique town, but to find their fortune. Many do and many don't!! Those who do get the 'bug' stay for many years hoping that they're going to hit the big one! Thanks for dropping by with your comment - good to see you.
Makes me thankful that I don't have to live in such a desolate place.
