I like to see these places. We're having a walk down to Rochester today and will look at the Bull Inn and think of it's history. Thanks waxwing...Sue

Faye my husband knows the Lion Inn in Salisbury. He was stationed near there when he was in the forces in his younger days and Salisbury was a night out. He didn't know about the prisoners being buried down the street. I will have to look that up on google as we both like history.

Joyce, you are doing well for chimneys today. Glad you enjoyed the puzzle.

Denise we've got an old coaching inn in Rochester called the Bull Hotel, look it up and you will see it was in one of Dickens stories, I think it was the Pickwick Papers.

Thank you everyone...Sue

On our first trip to Britain we took a coach tour. Our first night was spent at the Red Lion Inn in Salisbury...an old coaching inn. In the lobby they had a large grandfather clock that had a skeleton band (made from tin if I remember correctly) that played on the hour. The clock was made by prisoners from the Spanish Armada...who were buried down the street. :)

I see that this has an addition so may be the coaches went in that side. It sounds so romantic " a coaching inn " Britain sure has a long history and many buildings to tell the tale. If only we could understand what they are telling us . LOvely shot. thanks sue very much:-)
